Highlights
  • Summer Palace (Yiheyuan) - Enjoy a refreshing summer and scenic views here. Begin by exploring the Palace Area to witness the opulent lifestyle of the Imperial Family. Then, stroll through the world’s longest painted corridor and, if available, board an Imperial Ferry Boat on Kunming Lake to take in the breathtaking vistas of this expansive Imperial Garden, a nearly 300-year-old birthday gift from an emperor to his mother.
  • Niaochao National Stadium - Drive past the Olympic Stadium, also known as the Bird’s Nest. Although it is closed and we won’t stop, you can still snap photos from the car.
  • Mutianyu Great Wall - Around noon, you’ll be driven to the Mutianyu Section of the Great Wall, renowned as the most beautiful part of the wall near Beijing. You can choose to have lunch either before or after exploring the Wall. With our VIP pass, we can drive directly to the Great Wall without needing to switch to a shuttle bus, allowing you to enjoy a 2-hour hike on the Wall.

You have the option to take a ski lift up and a toboggan slide down to access the Great Wall, which is highly recommended to avoid a 30-minute climb up the hill. When descending, the toboggan slide is the best way to conclude your thrilling Great Wall adventure.

Worthwhile trip in a small group to see Summer Place and Great Wall - Was a very enjoyable day, with no stress, got picked up from hotel and taken to Summer Palace followed by a Birds nest drive-by, a really good lunch and finally over two hours on the Great Wall. Keith was a great tour guide, very knowledgeable and looks after everyone in the group. Would definitely recommend.

Gate wall/Summer Palace - Keith was a wonderful guy; he picked us up right on time and modified the tour so that we could go to the Great Wall in the morning and avoid the heat and crowds. We went to the Summer Palace and he was able to park right near the entrance and guide us through with lots of valuable information. We also went to a tea ceremony afterwards, which was very charming. Overall, a great experience and I would highly recommend it.

Great tour with a great guide - Keith had good communication from the start. Arrived exactly on time at our hotel. It was a comfortable and roomy car which was important since you spend around 3 hours just traveling. The summer palace was a good stop. The birds nest was really nothing special, so a short stop/drive by is enough. Then we had a tasty Chinese lunch very close to The Great Wall. Keith had thankfully prepared food that was vegetarian on request. We came up to the wall and could wander around freely for 1.5 hours. And then took the slide down which was good fun. Then to a tea ceremony which also was enjoyable (even though an obvious tourist attraction). Then we were dropped off at our hotel. Only positive feedback for Keith! Don’t hesitate to book this, you will not be disappointed. Side note: The only concern we had was with toilets. They are sometimes not at a good standard. This seems to be a trend in general here.

A Great Day, Even in Bad Weather - The Great Wall is all it's hyped up to be, one of the world's great wonders and an awe inspiring structure to absorb and record. However, The day that we scheduled a Great Wall tour turned out to be one of the heaviest rains in the Beijing area in over a decade. It didn't seem likely that we would be on the wall. Our hotel pickup began at 7am and made 2 additional stops collecting a tour group of 9 people (two cancelled). When we arrived at the Summer Palace portion of the tour in the morning, we found that it was closed, likely due to flooding, and there was word that the Mutianyu Great Wall would close early in the afternoon. Our guide Suzie and our driver were determined to push through the downpour in the 2hr trip to give us what we all had traveled to see. Along the way she shared facts and history of the Great Wall. With the van parked at the base of the mountain, there were 3 ways to get up to the wall: hike about 40+ mins, chair lift, or cable car (2 mins). Because of the weather and threat of Mutianyu closure, Suzie decided it would be best for us all to grab our umbrellas and take the cable cars. Once out of the cable car, we climbed the wet steps leading to the top of the wall. At some point into our 1 hr time on the rainy wall, miraculously, the rain paused for a while and we were treated to literally some of the most spectacular views on earth. Afterwards, we had a Beijing-style lunch (included) at the base of the mountain and Suzie added a tea shop demonstration and tasting to fill the extra time. We ended the 8hr tour soaked from head-to-toe, but excited and more than satisfied with the experience.

A day full of sightseeing and cultural experience. Not a minute wasted. - It was well organized. My hotel was far from the pick up areas, so the tour company provided a taxi for me (I had to pay extra for it, but it wasn’t much). The guide kept telling us about history and modern-day China throughout the whole tour. The lunch was delicious and the tea tasting was a nice pause between two major sights: the Great Wall and Summer Palace. I’m really glad I booked this tour before I flew to Beijing.

Good way to visit Great Wall - The overall tour was a good introduction to the Great Wall and Summer Palace. Guide was very kind towards elderly in the group and the Driver was friendly. However the tea house where we stopped at was probably not very genuine seller. Sold me Chinese tea meant to be top grade but mixed it up with low grade tea. Only discovered when back home. Recommend to skip the tea house stop.
