Once in a lifetime experience - Once in a lifetime experience hiking the Great Wall with a great group of people. This section is more remote and authentic with almost no other tourists. Some sections were quite challenging with lots of steps, but it was worth it. Celebrated the end of the hike with a delicious lunch. Highly recommend!

Tour on the great wall - Great tour on the Great Wall with very few tourists on this part of the tour. Nice group and cool guide. Almost 10km hike up-and-down - so be a bit trained.

Breathtaking views! Must do! - Definitely worth going. There were several points along the Great Wall we had the wall just our group was present. It’s gruelling hike but the views were spectacular. It’s completely breathtaking and lunch was good. You certainly need some decent fitness to ascend and descend. Steps were steep and it takes 1000 steps to get to the first tower of the Great Wall. Please take the walking poles provided!

Great Wall is a must see - It was foggy when we left Beijing, but the sky cleared in the mountains and we had a great 3h hike. That Sunday mid November only very few tourists have been there.

Great experience, thank you The Great Wall Hiking team! - The hiking trip was very well organised from the beginning (with Gary providing all the necessary information in advance) to the end. My guide Woody (Yaxin) was very kind, professional and knowledgeable about the Great Wall and beyond (Chinese history, culture etc.). I’ve had great fun and learnt a lot about China thanks to him. The section of the wall (Simatai West to Jinshanling) was not crowded at all, which enabled me to make fantastic pictures. Lastly, the Chinese lunch at the local restaurant was super tasty. I would definitely recommend the hiking tours of The Great Wall Hiking team!

Unforgettable Adventure - This hike was definitely an unforgettable adventure. My wife and I met up with our guide at the Subway station as instructed. The transport vehicle was a comfortable new mini van for our group of 5 and it took ~2 hours to get to Simatai West. GWH provides hiking poles in the van, which we highly recommend using as some wall sections have very steep steps. We were glad the hike started at the further end as in the first few sections, our group was the only ones on the wall. Gradually, we see tourists coming from the opposite direction, but the wall was never crowded. The weather was clear and perfect for photos. The hike took 4+ hours to complete and we did not have any rest breaks for more than ~5 minutes. Although my wife and I are in our 60s, we are in decent physical condition and regularly walks and hikes. Still, we were the slow ones holding back the guide and members of our group. After the hike, we had lunch at a local restaurant, and surprisingly, the dishes were delicious. Then it took 2.5+ hours to get back to the subway station at ~6PM because of the heavy Beijing commute traffic. A couple of suggestions, please give yourselves plenty of time to get to the subway meeting point and scout out the subway route and required time in advance so that you can arrive by 7:50AM as required. Secondly, although the website did not specify any health or age limitations, I would strongly recommend that participants be in good physical condition with good balance and healthy heart and legs as my iPhone indicated that I had climbed 123 flights and walked 6.9 miles on this hike. If any injuries on the wall, it might be challenging to obtain immediate help. So be aware! Given that, we highly recommend this hike for the physically fit!

Fantastic experience - This was an amazing experience and such a special way to be able to explore the Great Wall. My guide, Michael, was great. He was very informative and easy to hike with. I'd highly recommend this instead of a typical tour from Beijing.

Beautiful part of the wall to explore - Utterly breathtaking views and so pleased I got to walk an old bit of the wall... but there are really tough bits... like the steps at the start they don't tell you about 😅 The tour was bigger than normal when I went and this made it difficult for everyone keeping together and heading what was being spoken about... after we have all paid for the same experience not just the fastest! However 3 stars is because communication from the organiser was terrible. I was sent a location for a random pick up place and then never heard back from them fortunately I walked 20 min to the original location and found the group just on time! Solo traveller not fun experience!
