Home away from home - Kevser, our generous host, made us feel right at home in her home! The food was delicious, and the small group we had, had plenty of great conversation into the evening. One of my favourite things I got to experience in Istanbul for sure.

Amazing Turkish experience - Rojda is a super host. From the moment I arrived at her place I felt welcomed. Food we cooked was absolutely delicious and we also had turkish tea and coffee. I learned alot about the turkish cuisine in just few hours. It started to rain and Rojda was kind enough for us to stay a bit longer until the rain stopped! I will remember this experience for a lifetime. I highly recommend to try this experience and you won't be disappointed:).

Really felt like a part of the family :) - Nura (the Turkish Mom) is such a sweetheart - she welcomed me into their home with warmth and even waited from the 2nd floor of the apartment complex to make sure I would arrive safely. I don’t have much experience in cooking, but Nura was very patient with me as she helped me refined my knife skills a little. While Nura had some trouble in communicating in English, we were able to have a decent conversation while preparing a hefty dinner for 10 - very similar to how a mother and child might prepare for a party. :) I did feel a sense of accomplishment after having cooked everything, and even received praise from the guests from the dolma that we prepared. It felt festive at night without feeling forced - and I really did feel that I was part of the family, even for a short while. I appreciated that Bayer provided many options in helping me get to the house since it is a little difficult to find.

Like visiting family - Nuran and her family are lovely and welcoming. It was such a delight to get to spend some time with them. We got to help prepare several dishes, all of which were delicious, then enjoy them together with the family. I especially enjoyed the conversation and learning a little more about their life in istanbul.

Turkish home cooking - I attended an evening class. My warm mother teaches me Turkish home cooking carefully. I was relaxed and enjoyed the delicious food and hospitality of the family. I was a little worried about English, but it teaches in simple English, so people like me are OK.

Home Away From Home - I thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class with local moms. I had such a strong appreciation for the sense of community and family that I felt in this lovely modest Turkish household. I thoroughly enjoy learning how to cook Turkish cuisine and be a main contributor to cooking food that was shared with seven other individuals. It was like being home away from home. Great food, great company. The sharing of culture, language and each other Instagram accounts. An experience that I will remember when I think of my visit to Istanbul.

Will be a highlight of your trip! - An experience we will not soon forget. Nuran welcomed us into her home as if we were family, and we sure felt that way after we left. This was not just about the cooking, which was a big part of it. It was also about the experience of breaking bread with new friends in a new country, sharing life experiences and enjoying each other’s company. We requested and received transport to her home, and as it turned out, the driver is her nephew. A good kid named Faith, who joined us for our meal. Nuran’s husband also ate with us on his work lunch break, and her son’s girlfriend stopped in, too. It felt like we were in a TV show, where everyone pops in to eat! We loved it! When we arrived, we were invited to enjoy a lemonade drink and a pastry before we started cooking. Then it was into the kitchen we went! Nuran (with our help!) prepared a special meal for me, as a vegetarian, and also meat for my husband and the others who popped in. There was so much food!!! Good thing the family helped us eat it all. It was a special experience and a cultural connection we are grateful to have had.
