Fantastic Tour Guide - What a fantastic guy….Finding myself in Belfast with an afternoon to spare, I decided to book a spur of the moment tour with Paul having read many positive reviews and I am so glad I did. As a female travelling solo, I have to say from the moment I met Paul I felt very much at ease and my afternoon turned out to be far better than I had anticipated.
Paul collected me at Crumlin Road Gaol and immediately set about showing me all Belfast had to offer. He is an extremely knowledgeable person with a wealth of information to share, Belfast`s very own living encyclopedia !!
Paul brought me on a journey back in time with an excellent yet balanced account of all that went on during the times of the troubles, showing me various places, memorials, churches along with the history behind each one. Hearing the fact coupled with the visual made for a very informative yet poignant journey at times, especially when hearing Paul`s own personal connection and experiences throughout those troubled times. In addition, Paul showed me a lot of Belfast and how it has evolved today which made for a perfect mix of the old and the new. Belfast is a beautiful city with a very friendly and positive vibe, there is so much to see and do.
Paul has a great humor about him and he went out of his way to make sure I enjoyed my day. He is an all-round sound guy, his passion for Belfast was infectious. We had great laughs, good ole craic and I have to say I was sad when the day ended and I had to hit the road south again. However, I left knowing Belfast has so much more to give than an afternoon can fill and I have promised myself that the road north will see me again pretty soon. To use one of Paul`s favorite words of the day….it was magic !!

You can’t do Belfast without Paul. - Paul was the most knowledgable tour guide I have ever had. We spent an amazing 2 days with Paul and without him Belfast wouldn’t be the same. Paul really bought the city to life for our family and revealed the amazing and rich history which Belfast is abundant with. We’ve been back in Brisbane Australia for more than 3 months now and still tell everyone about how Belfast was our favourite stop on our trip of Ireland, Scotland and the UK - this is truly a testament to Paul! Thank you Paul 😊

If you're in Belfast you can't go wrong with spending a few hours with Paul - Paul's Troubles Tour of Belfast was wonderful. He has a unique, personal perspective on the Troubles - he grew-up on the street that the Troubles started on and his family still lives in the shadow of the memorial there. He lost relatives during the Troubles, and he has also married across the sectarian divide.
All of this makes for a very personal but also very balanced look into the history of Belfast and how it plays out today. He is engaging, insightful and funny. He manages to make the tour really engaging, impactful and tender (setting the history in a human context) whilst also keeping such a bloody and contested recent history light and at times funny.
If you're in Belfast you can't go wrong with spending a few hours with Paul, you'll learn loads and leave with an insider's guide to the best pubs in Belfast.

Guide of a Lifetime with a Personal Connection - Paul was a fantastic guide. He was recommended by the Fitzwilliam hotel where we stayed (also a great hotel) and he did not disappoint. He met my daughter and I Crumlin prison in his own car. Then spent some time talking with us about our interests and knowledge. I have had guided tours all over the world. We agreed Paul was the most personable, knowledgeable and gave the most poignant guided tour we have ever been on. Paul has personal experience with the troubles having grown up in the heart of it on Bombay street. He grew up Catholic, married a Protestant and has a unique and balance approach to sharing his experiences. We spent valuable time on both sides of the 'gates' and felt like we heard literally, both points of view. Balanced, factual and fascinating. His personal stories about family members who are literally chiseled into historical monuments gave a unique touch to the tour. Ask him about the the filming of the iconic "Troubles" song Zombie by the Cranberries. By complete happenstance, our tour was on one of the most famous days of the Troubles, August 15th. Paul had taken the day off out of respect for the memory, but said he had a feeling something special may happen. When his friend at the Fitzwilliam called to say we were in town only 1 day and he couldn't think of anyone better than Paul, he joined us straight away and even refused a well-deserved tip, saying it was a special day to honor and we had done him a favor. I cannot say enough about his knowledgeable and highly personal approach and if you have a chance, ASK FOR PAUL.

Amazing Belfast Tour - We took a "black cab tour" with Paul, it was arranged by the concierge at the Fitzwilliam hotel. First, Paul wasn't in an actual black cab, he drove a Mercedes. We knew a bit about The Troubles - my wife is Catholic and I was raised Lutheran. Anyway, the tour with Paul was absolutely amazing. Paul grew up in Belfast, his uncle was killed during the Troubles, so Paul has a really unique perspective. His tour was really balanced really educational, and provided so much perspecitive, both to then and now. I cannot recommend Paul more strongly. You can contact him at:
