Additional Information

Every metropolis boasts its unique shopping and cafe scene, and Belfast is no exception. However, Belfast has a distinctive history, having emerged from three decades of conflict. The original drivers, who ferried their communities amidst the gunfire and explosions of THE TROUBLES, risked their lives every time they occupied their black cabs.

Northern Ireland has garnered recognition for the mural paintings scattered across the country. These murals, featuring the IRA, UVF, and more, are frequently spotlighted in global news or used as backdrops for interviews. They narrate the historical and political milieu of varied traditions and serve as a symbolic method of staking territory. Despite their ominous appearances, these murals have turned into a tourist magnet, rivaling the standard attractions in Belfast and beyond.

Informative, thought provoking & excellent value for money. - We cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Jake, our tour guide, was extremely informative giving us insight and knowledge that we did not have before. We were impressed with just how much was included in the tour. JR rocks as a guide! - Our guide JR was fantastic! He clearly led us through a history of the “Troubles”. JR pointed out details of the gates, walls and murals we would not have seen. We recommend JR with no hesitation. He has a good sense of humor too.

Educational - If you want to learn about the history of Belfast and its struggles, this is it. Our driver lived through the upheaval, but had a positive, and informative attitude in explaining it to us. It is a heavy, emotional tour, but he tried to lighten up the mood at times. After the tour, you will need to do something fun and light hearted. We went to a pub!

A brilliant insight into Belfasts turbulent past - We grew up in the times of the Troubles and had a mainland perspective. This tour gave us visits to Loyalist and Republican murals with a history of the conflict. Our guide, Stevie G was extremely knowledgeable whilst giving a balanced perspective . If you’re visiting Belfast, this tour is a must and if you get Stevie, then you’ve struck gold. Probably the best city tour we’ve ever had.

It was in a Mini Van that the PA system didn't work in. I Would expect a Black Taxi Tour to actually be in a black taxi. - When I book a tour called a Black Taxi tour, I would expect it to be in a black taxi, not a mini van.
