First-hand personal insight into The Troubles - Just beginning to appreciate the depth of the history and division and pain of what The Troubles have wrought here in N. Ireland. John shared his deeply personal and *first-hand* experiences with the conflict. He was very informative, honest, patient, and his stories were very moving and sobering. We would highly recommend a tour with John. You will learn so much about a complex situation but you’ll want to learn more.

Exceptionally Informative Experience - I believe this tour was likely the most authentic, informative, heartfelt experience one could possibly have - without actually living through these times in Ireland. John provided both sides of the story. It felt balanced. He explained many details about the murals and their origin; one would not be able to discern - without his guidance. We were able to get out of his car to see things. It was never rushed. This tour remains a highlight of even all our previous visits to Ireland. One goes on this tour because you enjoy history and you want to understand.
We prearranged to meet John by email from Canada for our tour before visiting Belfast by cruise ship. He met us exactly as promised just outside the cruise terminal. He would have used our Whatsapp number but I provided him with our local mobile phone number and he called us on the day of the tour to confirm final details. Our highest recommendation.

Very informative and... - Very informative and interesting so much history which most people know a bit of it. But to see and hear it first hand is impactful.

Engaging. - A terrible tale well told. Billy knew his brief well. The name we both could not recall was Daniel McColgan. He was the 22 year old postal worker murdered in 2002. That particular murder demonstrated the chasm between the rival factions. A little fella lost his life for what? For what gain? Some other family shattered in the opposite camp. For what? For what gain? A lot of talking needs to happen up there.

OK but expensive - Was OK. Would have liked a bit more information of the history. Felt a lot of stuff was just repeated. For the price I think the tour bus might have been a cheaper option
