Additional Information

This is an excursion tailor-made for architecture enthusiasts, showcasing the distinct styles of brutalism and structuralism largely influenced by the ideological tenets of former Yugoslavia.

Become acquainted with the architectural feats of the Social Communist era in Yugoslavia, erected to symbolize its nascent power. You can view Belgrade from an elevated perspective on the observation deck of the Avala Telecommunication Tower, situated on the highest peak of Belgrade.

Traverse the Ada bridge that spans over the Sava river. Travel through the doors of Belgrade – the Western gateway, the dual Genex towers joined by a bridge on the 26th level, and the Eastern Gate, the Rudo buildings, all crafted in the stark style of brutalism.

You will get a chance to behold the ‘Sava’ Center, a construction conceived to accommodate the Conference on European Security and Cooperation. You will also stand before the Palace of Serbia, formerly the Federal Executive Council, an impressive example of late modernism that highlights how design can mirror the prevailing ideology.

Space Architecture, out of this world - If you have an interest in brutalist architecture and/or seeing more of Belgrade and/or learning more about the recent history of Serbia and Yugoslavia.. this is the tour for you. Our guide Stefan was excellent, so knowledgeable and explained everything in a clear and friendly manner. He could not have been more helpful, it soon felt like a friend was showing us around. Everything ran smoothly and Stefan even shared some online resources after the tour ended so we could maximise our Belgrade experience.
