The drive from Belize City to Nohoch Che’en Reserve takes about one hour.
On the way to San Ignacio town, there will be a stop at the Nohoch Che’en Reserve. This 19-mile network of caves is situated in the Caves Branch Valley of the Cayo District.
This introductory tour includes a jungle walk and a gentle float through the caves. With the help of a headlamp, participants will see cave fish and several stunning Maya paintings on the cave ceilings.
Upon arrival at the site, participants will gear up and hike for 45 minutes before entering one of the cave entrances that form the cave system. Using tubes, they will gently float downstream through the cave passages, observing and learning about the remarkable geological features of the cave and the Maya civilization’s history.
