Amazing Float Trip Down the River & Cave - Our tour guides were excellent! We started with a 1 mile hike to the cave crossing rivers. We were able to swim at one location to cool off. We were outfitted the life vests and helmet. Once in our rafts, our guides worked very hard to navigate us through deep water and shallow areas, including the backstroke to pull a raft of 6 tubes. They provided narration to explain the limestone formations - stalactites and stalagmites, and pointed out nesting swallows and bats. We floated by an underground waterfall where we got soaked, then a Cenote that formed the cave system. Our helmets had a light, but was not very powerful. Definitely take lotsa pictures! A traditional Belizean lunch of rice and beans with chicken and plantains, and a beverage were included.

Amazing excursion with a fantastic tour guide, Jonathan! - We booked the Cave Tubing experience with Charlie’s group and had the absolute pleasure of having Jonathan as our guide for the day. He was easy to find in his Superman tee shirt as described and comfortable drove us through Belize City and out to the caves (about an hour drive). He pointed out all the highlights along the way and shared a wealth of information about Belize, its culture, lifestyle and history. He engaged with both parents and kids alike! Upon arrival at the caves, Jonathan placed our order for lunch for after our adventure making sure we had no food allergies or aversions. All expenses are included including lunch and your tubing gear. I highly recommend that you bring crocs or hard sole water shoes. Regular flimsy water shoes are really not sufficient as the rivers are super rocky. We rented crocs there for $3 per pair which was great but we definitely paid the price of a few blisters. Other yours groups had to carry their tubes through the hike to the cave launch. With Jonathan, we did not have to carry anything. We had our life jackets and helmets but picked up our tubes at the cave entrance which was awesome. The hike to the cave was about 15-20 minutes and a nice walk through the greenery. The tubing was excellent! No tight areas or unwanted wildlife spotted! Jonathan expertly guided us through the caves, pointing out the highlights. When we came to the end, we were given the chance to get out of our tubes and swim in the river. After tubing, our lunch was ready - delicious chicken, rice and beans, plantain and soda that both my kids devoured! We headed back to the port with plenty of time before our ship departed. Excellent excursion that was well worth the money. Jonathan was a blast! 100% recommend!!!!

Charlie's Cave tubing in Belize - We took the Cave tubing during our port stop in Belize. I was worried about getting back to ship in time because the last tender was leaving at 3 pm. We left promptly at 9am and the tubing location was about an hour away. The cave tubing was great and the lunch after was really good also. I like Charlie's Tour in that we were in small group, unlike the excursion offered by the cruise ship. We were able to get back to port in time and had about hour to tour the port area before boarding the tender back to the ship.

Cave tubing in Belize - We rushed to get off the ship and sneaked on to the first tender with those that had booked with Carnival but then we had to wait almost an hour for others. As I had seen from other reviews, it is a very long van ride to the tubing activity. About an hour and fifteen minutes.. Then got the gear on and our group of 8 hiked the 35 min or so to the cage entrance. It was very fun and a unique opportunity. On the tubes for probably 50 min.. 10 min or so outside of the caves. Then a local style lunch and a similar long drive back. It is a long outing with the travel. Worth doing but expect a lot of travel time and tough to time everyone getting off the tender boats in Belize.

Make Sure You Do This Tour With Charlie's Cave Tubing! - We had a great time cave tubing with Charlie's Cave Tubing. We had 14 in our group, ages 20 - 80+ years young. Captain Chino made sure we were all together on the long ride over. He was funny and shared lots of history of Belize with us. So many standout moments with this company - contrary to other tour operators, they had young men bring up our tubes for us. Instead of passing on the cost of that to customers, they pay for that to encourage young men to get into tourism. It is a bit of a trek to the mouth of the cave, and we all made it. Even though there are several tour companies at the beginning, we soon separated into our own little groups. Chris was our guide, he was great! He shared interesting information about the caves and their uses throughout history. He spoke about the Belizean tourist industry. He took good care of us. We noticed 2 or 3 times along the way, other groups getting out of the water and carrying their tubes before we had to leave, giving us a great extended tour through the caves and down the river. It ended with a delicious lunch which was included at the restaurant. Beans and rice, marinated chicken, salad, and a Fanta (or water or soda), then the long drive back, with Captain Chino entertaining us with family stories and heartfelt life advice. There was a great local artist there, Ernesto, who did beautiful carvings on slate. Many of us supported him by buying his artwork.

Our tour guide, George of... - Our tour guide, George of the Jungle, was extremely knowledgeable during the hike identifying numerous trees and plants along the way. Tubing through the caves was an incredible experience for my entire family.

Fun, refreshing excursion with teens. - Okay, this is what you want to know. We were able to find the gentleman with a blue Superman logo T-shirt on at the end of terminal one area. That is where our cruise ship tender boats let us off. Something to take note of, if you book the excursion and it’s not one sponsored by your cruise ship more likely than not you will be on a water taxi that exits your cruise ship a little bit later than everybody else that booked a Cruise ship sponsored activity. So my suggestion would be to get up early and have your entire party with you to go pick up the ticket that you’ll need to get on the water taxi to get off your cruise ship as soon as possible. Wear Teva type sandals or water shoes with thick soles that have a good grip. You’ll be walking along a gravel path, and crossing the river at a couple of points before you reach the area that you will enter the river/caves to tube down stream. The walk is about 30 minutes. It is something that kids, teens, adults and active seniors can make as it isn’t a steep, uphill trek. I took a 12 and 13 year old and there were seniors and younger kids walking just fine. If you plan to take your cellphone or video camera, get a waterproof pouch with a lanyard or something that will float with a wristlet attached. If you drop your phone it will be lost and you really can’t easily keep it dry outside of a waterproof pouch. Wear what you are willing to get wet. Most people wore just a bathing suit but you can wear athletic clothes too. There are bathrooms at the facility, but depending on if your group is on a time crunch, you need to wear what you are okay with getting wet, at the beginning of the excursion. My kids and I had athletic shorts and shirts on over our bathing suits and we just took it off on the bus and left it on our seat before we exited to start the excursion. You can leave your bags on the bus. I didn’t hear of a single person that had something stolen or lost. They kind of pride themselves on making sure everybody’s belonging stay safe considering this is their livelihood. My kids and I all left our bag with money and personal belongings inside. We took our phones in waterproof pouches because we wanted to take videos of our excursion. When you get off of the bus at the location, they give you a few minutes to use the restroom before taking you over to the area where you are provided with safety hats with lights that you’ll need for the cave area and a life vest. On this excursion, we did not have to carry our tubes to the entry point which was nice. They were waiting there for us. Our excursion guide pointed out some unique features of the caves as we floated down. Our tubes were tied together, and so he helped to navigate us through shallow waters and deeper water. Towards the end, you can get off of the tubes and freely float in the water to cool off if you’d like. Otherwise, you can stay on the tube and they’ll guide you to the end point of the tubing tour. At the end, you get out and return your tubes, life vest, and hat with light. There are a few little shops in the area that you can buy souvenirs and trinkets if you desire. Even though my excursion group was on a time crunch, they provided us with lunch on the bus (which would have normally been provided there at the facility), gave great service and got us back to our cruise ship port by the expected time. From the cruise porch terminal, it takes about an hour to drive to the location of the excursion. During the drive, they provided some commentary about the history of Belize and pointed out some unique features of the area. Our guides were kind informative, and they continue to reassure the entire group that they would get us back to the port on time as they were well aware of what time our cruise ships we’re going to leave. They made sure that everybody that wanted to lunch was provided one including drinks and continued to walk up and down the aisle of the bus to monitor guests until we made it back to the cruise port. This is a great excursion to do with my teens. They both had a good time as well as I.

Pre planning is key😊 - We booked online. You must print your tickets!!!!! You must read your ticket instructions!!!! We arrived on MSC and like all the other cruise goers, you need to be on the first boat off the cruise ship!!! Get up early to get seat assignments. Pack the night before🙂. We arrived and had no problem finding the guys in the Superman t shirts. They walked us to a pick up point the had a little snack shop. Short walk under 10 minutes. We waited for more people to arrive. Wait time about 30-45 minutes. Van arrived, we all got loaded. Total 16 people. We then began the 1 hour and 20 minutes ride to the park entrance. You can leave your belongings in the van. We got suited up and followed our tour guide. We did not carry our tubes!!!!!! The hike was walkable with a few steps here and there. Very nice of them to transport the tubes for us. The caves are beautiful and the water was very refreshing. It was very chill. Just what my family needed. The park has restrooms and showers. The guide had lunch for us that we ate in the van. Then back to the cruise terminal. Over all, the staff, the guides were great! I would recommend. Just be prepared to get off the ship on time!

Charlie was a no-show - We got no experience with Charlie's Cave tubing. We had confirmation and tickets paid for, arrived on the 1st tender off our ship around 8:45am, but was no man in a Superman shirt there to meet us. A Belize tourist bureau man made a phone call to Charlie. He told us that we had cancelled and they were too far away for us to go on the excursion. Also said he had called us on the ship the day before. We had no calls nor did we have cell service. Fortunately another tour service took us in their group. But, we had to pay for another tour service. Thankfully, they were great! So I would have to give Charlie's a 0. And we want our money back from Charlie.
