From the parking lot, we will proceed to El Castillo, one of the three largest Maya Temples in Belize and the tallest structure at this site, standing 130 feet above plaza level. Climbing to the top offers a panoramic view of the surrounding area. El Castillo is notable for its series of stucco friezes on the exterior, depicting stories and events from Maya mythology.
- San Ignacio - We will stop at Hode’s Place for lunch, one of the best local restaurants in San Ignacio Town.
- Blue Hole National Park - The tour begins with a 5-minute walk from the parking lot down some stairs to the Blue Hole cenote. Here, you can enjoy a refreshing swim, take photographs, or experience the Belizean rainforest.
The inland Blue Hole (cenote) is located in Blue Hole National Park on the Hummingbird Highway. It was formed by the collapse of an underground limestone cave. The river that originally flowed through the cavern still runs through the cave system, forming a sapphire-colored pool at the bottom of the sinkhole. The depression is about 100 feet deep and 300 feet in diameter, with the actual blue hole at the base of the depression having a depth of about 25 feet.
