Eager to catch the big one?
Renowned as one of the premier bass fisheries globally, Lake St. Clair has received praise from Bass Master, which named it the top lake in North America in 2018. This shallow lake is a freshwater angler’s paradise! Although smaller than the nearby Great Lakes, Lake St. Clair offers exceptional freshwater sport-fishing for anglers of all skill levels.
From our marina in Puce, you are just a short boat ride away from famous fishing spots such as:
- “The Hump,” located about eight kilometers directly north of Belle River
- Mitchell’s Bay, celebrated for excellent panfish, pike, and largemouth bass fishing
- Drift along the Detroit River for some Pickerel/Walleye
- Nearby Tremblay Beach is a popular spot where you’ll see others fishing when the bite is on
What to Catch
Pickerel/Walleye
While they typically prefer deeper and murkier waters, Lake St. Clair still hosts a significant number of these toothy critters. As the largest of the Perch family, pursuing Walleye requires strength and patience. The reward is substantial – you’re in for the battle of a lifetime!
Bass
Lake St. Clair is globally recognized for its Smallmouth Bass fishery, with few places offering a greater abundance of these fascinating creatures. Targeting these delicious fish is straightforward, as they are found throughout the lake.
Yellow Perch
Yellow Perch is one of the most sought-after fish in this region. It’s the most commonly caught game fish in the area, and the locals adore it! Typically found near the shore, Lake St. Clair boasts a thriving Yellow Perch population ready to take your bait! Cast a line anywhere in these shallow waters, and chances are – you’ll reel in a Perch.
Northern Pike
A favorite among anglers in the Great Lakes area, Northern Pike might be the most valiant of the Pike family. Resembling Musky in appearance, these creatures also put up a fierce fight! Visit in summer and fall for the largest specimens, and you’re sure to leave with sore muscles.
Musky
One of the most thrilling freshwater game fish, Musky are highly popular with Lake St. Clair anglers. Our lake is renowned for some of the best Musky fishing in the world. They thrive in the lake’s shallow waters, and due to their sheer numbers, fishing for Musky on Lake St. Clair is an exhilarating adventure.
There are plenty of other fish to target as well. Lake St. Clair offers something for everyone.
