Tipu Sultan Fort and Palace - Bangalore KR Market - Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace in Bangalore, India, is a fine example of Indo-Islamic architecture and served as the summer residence of the Mysorean ruler Tipu Sultan. Constructed entirely of teak, the structure is adorned with pillars, arches, and balconies. It is believed that King Tipu Sultan held his durbar (court) from the eastern and western balconies of the upper floor. The palace walls are embellished with beautiful floral motifs, and the site also features a painting of a grand throne envisioned by Tipu Sultan himself, coated with gold sheets and adorned with precious emerald stones. After King Tipu Sultan’s death in the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War, the British Administration used the palace for its secretariat before relocating to Attara Kacheri in 1868.

Lalbagh Botanical Garden - Located in Bangalore, Lalbagh Botanical Garden is a nationally and internationally renowned center for botanical artwork, scientific plant study, and plant conservation. It is a haven for nature enthusiasts. Known as Rose or Cypress Garden until 1856, Lal Bagh spans 240 acres in the city’s heart and houses nearly 1,854 plant species. Commissioned by Hyder Ali in 1760 and completed by his son Tipu Sultan, the garden features the Lal Bagh Rock, over 3,000 million years old, as a major tourist attraction. This botanical garden, a delight for photographers, also includes the famous glasshouse where an annual flower show is held. Tipu Sultan imported trees and plants from around the world, and today, Lalbagh Botanical Garden boasts one of the world’s largest collections of rare plants. The garden is home to various birds such as Mynas, Parakeets, Crows, and Brahminy Kites.

Bangalore Fort - Bangalore Fort, the birthplace of India’s Silicon Valley, began in 1537 as a mud fort. It was built by Kempe Gowda I, a vassal of the Vijaynagar Empire and the founder of Bangalore. In 1761, King Hyder Ali replaced the mud fort with a stone fort, which was further enhanced by his son King Tipu Sultan in the late 18th century. Although damaged during an Anglo-Mysore war in 1791, it remains a fine example of 18th-century military fortification, featuring stone carvings, an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ganesh, and a large wooden gate at the entrance.

KR Market - KR Market (Krishnarajendra Market), also known as City Market, is a bustling landmark in Bangalore, virtually open 24 hours. It is one of the city’s oldest markets, comprising countless shops, street stalls, and vendors offering everything from jasmine flowers to dumbbells, and fresh vegetables to cast iron utensils.
