My 4-DayHidden Gems holiday experience (Mysore/Somnathpur/Shravanabelagola) - I was in BLR for work in early Aug & at the last minute, contacted Praveen after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. Originally was intended to be a 3-day sightseeing trip which turned into a 4-day trip! On Day 1, covered the Silk Cocoon Auction Centre, scrumptious breakfast on the way to Mysore, the Somnathpur Keshava temple (a truly wondrous feat of architecture reflecting the Hindu mythology), Srirangapatna Fort, visited the fabulous Mysore Palace & the street market at Mysore city. Was accompanied by a very knowledgeable guide, Faizan, who was a wealth of information! Discovered facts that are not in any conventional history books! He was a "hidden gem", alright! On Day 2 & Day 3, visited the Chamundi temple in Mysore & then on to Nagarahole wildlife park for a safari. Stayed overnight at a farmhouse with homecooked meals..! I am sure I put on extra pounds :) Day 4 was at Shravanabelagola, an ancient Jain spiritual site with temples spread over 2 hills. What the ancients could achieve in terms of construction & architecture is truly amazing. What can I say? The entire trip was truly amazing to say the least. For something this experiential & wonderful to be arranged at short notice, I can only say thanks to Praveen, Faizan & Mansoor (our driver) for making it so memorable. Will have no hesitation in recommending Hidden Gems to anyone who wants to have a good mix of experience (the old, the new, nature....) in discovering the hidden gems of Karnataka.

True gem of a day trip! - What a day! This tour takes you to all the spots you would want to see in Mysore (palace etc.), but what makes it truly special is the company of Praveen and the less-known spots he takes you to. He is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area and significance of its monuments, enthusiastic to talk about India's culture, and encouraging to take photos (key for me because I was traveling solo). Would totally recommend to anyone staying in Bangalore over a weekend.

Fantastic tour of Mysore area - My daughter and I had a wonderful time on this tour of the Mysore area. We needed the tour tailored slightly to our needs and Praveen was very accommodating. The breakfast was one of the highlights for us, as we got to try a variety of traditional items. We also enjoyed simply seeing the flora and fauna of rural agricultural India, including cows, dogs, chickens, goat herders and ox carts. We are from the US and I was a bit worried whether the tour would meet our standards, but it was fantastic. Like anyplace in India, you need to be prepared for restrooms that are not always up to western standards. Bring some TP and hand sanitizer and you will be fine. We were there at a busy holiday season so we also met some crowds, but actually that experience, following our guide through the crowd was one of the most memorable. He made us feel safe, and it was great that he know exactly where to take us to maximize our experience despite crowds.

Cannot recommend enough! - This is an amazing way to see so many great sites between Bangalore and Mysore! Praveen is an informative, fun, and passionate guide and he made the experience an unforgettable one. Traveling as a solo female can be intimidating but I felt very safe throughout this tour and the group was fun and welcoming! I think this was the best possible way to see the sites and take a day trip to Mysore!

Bengaluru Forever! - Bengaluru, the Hub of technology is amazing. The hustles and bustle of the city is really something to see. Call out to the Indian people. It could not be more kind to any traveller. The food, however spicy, they prepare to you anything without spice, as long as you tell them in advance. Take the advantage of taking pictures, talking to the people, take the subway, and remember to drink the sugarcane juice with lemon. The hotels are very nice, well located, and the cab perfectly work in Bengaluru.

Great experience in Mysuru for the festival - We booked a last minute tour to see Mysuru with Praveen and it did not disappoint. Praveen was extremely flexible to what our group wanted to do and had the knowledge of the area to improvise activities on the fly. Specifically, we wanted to see the Mysuru palace at night when it would be lit up for the festival, so he altered the route and agenda slightly so we could be there at the right time. He did a great job pacing snack, lunch, and coffee breaks to keep us energized and ready for the next thing. We didn't have to worry about anything! I had a great time and I’d highly recommend taking a tour with Praveen!

Mysore day trip - Unlike any other tour I have taken in India, the true India! No stopping at ‘friends’ places to buy things, just beautiful scenes and interesting history that surrounds. Praveen had an extensive knowledge of history to share and also took me to some local places to eat; where I really enjoyed the food.

Best tour ever! Hidden Gems is a can't miss - By far one of the BEST tours I have had! I initially booked the heritage tour of Lepakshi and the Nandi Hills, however the day before my scheduled tour the expert guide had fallen ill. Not to worry -- Praveen reached out and asked if I would instead be interested in the "Best of Mysore/Mysuru, Somnathpur & Srirangapatna in a Day" tour instead. Seeing as this was my first time in India, I happily obliged. The morning of the tour -- his daughter Sanjana reached out to remind me of my pickup details, and I was picked up by her and their driver Riyaz bright and early! Sanjana was an absolute delight -- explaining all the stops on our way and proving to be an expert in explaining the ins and outs of traditional Kanakata breakfast (our first stop!). We then learned all about the silk worm cocoon markets in the area -- stopping by one while learning the ins and outs of silk making. Next we made it to Mysore to pick up our expert historical guide, who then proceeded to explain the ins and outs of Dussehra, the festival that was occurring that day that prevented us from touring the inside of Mysore Palace (the cultural experience of seeing everyone line up for the Elephant procession was interesting enough!) We later visited the Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace -- expert guide providing all of the historical context, the sultan's Gumbaz, and then the ruins of his fort before having an excellent and idyllic lunch on the banks of the River Cauvery. Last but not least, we visited the Unesco World Heritage site of the 12th century Keshava Temple, Somnathpur -- by FAR my most favorite stop of the day tour! The stone carvings were so incredibly detailed and ornate, and even though they were damaged during 13th century conflicts, they all have lasted incredibly well! It was a delight to be able to touch the stones and learn the intricate stories behind the images. After that we made the journey back to Bangalore -- tired in the best of ways from our long day. I cannot recommend Hidden Gems Tours enough! Everyone was so kind, thoughtful, and knowledgeable and if/when I make it back to Bangalore I intend to book them again for that Lepashki trip I missed out on. Thanks to the WHOLE Hidden Gems crew for the most amazing day in India.

Take This Tour - What a day. If you're looking for a true hidden gem of a tour this is the one for you. You'll get the full-on locals experience and avoid the typical tourist trap destinations that other tours will usually take you to. From a temple dated in the 1200's to the local market to the Mysore Palace every stop on this tour is worth seeing. With only one more free day left on my stay in the Bangalore area I made a last-minute decision to book this tour. I booked on Viator at around 2AM for 6:30AM pick-up the same day. Praveen picked me up from my hotel right on time. With it being just him and I together for the day I have to say I truly enjoyed his insight and knowledge of all things tour related, but I especially enjoyed just conversing about any and everything throughout the day. This was my first time in India, and I was happy to hear Praveen (the owner of the company) offers other tours in the area as well. I will be making another trip back to the region for another tour with Praveen, being that there is so much to see and experience. Make sure you're prepared for a full day, although we went through the day faster than usual with it being just two of us, we didn't conclude the day until around 5:30PM. Have your walking shoes on and camera ready. What a day, and what a blessing it was to experience this tour and all the Mysore region has to offer. Thank you Praveen!
