Beautiful in every way. - This was a beautiful experience. Of course , Mama Nina is delightful. She had a neighbor who interpreted very well. The shared cooking and coaching were quite fun. The French couple we shared the experience with were very engaging. We were given a ride to and form Mama Nina’s in the castle in Berat. Wonderful travel experience!

Authentic Albanian Cooking Experience - We would absolutely do it again. My favorite part was the hosts sharing about their lives, learning about a youth under the communist regime, and all the changes that have occurred in the Berat Castle village over time. This isn't a Cordon Bleu class on special cooking techniques for luxury foods. Instead it's an opportunity to learn how real Albanians cook traditional foods in a home setting. Absolutely recommend.

An experience to remember! - This cooking class with Mama Nina and her childhood friend, Miqel, who helped with translation, was the highlight of our trip to Albania! We had a private cooking class in a beautiful rustic setting within Berat castle, just me and my husband. We started off with raki, a local homemade liquor. Then we got to cooking! We chopped eggplants, onions, garlic, peppers, fresh parsley and dill and sauted in the outdoor kitchen. We made qofta (meatballs) from ground veal, and an Albanian dish called ferges. Each dish was full of fresh flavor. A delight for all the senses! The view was breathtakingly gorgeous! This should be part of everyone's experience in Albania!

Antique architecture - The only castle that has more than 40 churches and also mosks, the only castle where different religions found peace. The castle is a must visit and from the top you see the Osum valley and the old and new city.

Delicious fun! - We had a fabulous trip to Albania, and this was one of the top experiences in my opinion. We felt extremely welcome by both Mama Nina and her childhood friend, Miqel, who helped with translation. We had a private cooking class in a beautiful rustic setting within Berat castle. We started off with raki, a local liquor, and some candied quince. Then we got to work using simple, local, and extremely fresh ingredients like onions, garlic, peppers, eggplant, zucchini, ricotta cheese, and fresh oregano. We made qofta (meatballs) from ground veal, eggplant that was incredibly flavorful, and an Albanian dish called ferges, that was super delicious. 😋 The location itself was slightly challenging to find because GPS doesn’t take you exactly to the right place, and some of the locals did not seem to be aware of exactly where to go, but we are so glad we found it and had this amazing experience!
