Bergen Hop on hop off a good experience - Good experience. Glad there was a group of representatives near the cruise port to help with tickets and boarding. A basic ride with helpful narration that got the trip to Bergen kicked off!

Bergen Ho-Ho - The gentleman collecting vouchers recommended that we get off at the first stop in Bergen and take the funicular up the mountain early as it would be very crowded later in the day. We took his advice, had a great time and saw all the mobs of people coming in as we were leaving. He was so right! Unfortunately, the cruise line we are traveling with was selling tickets for the same bus and they were cheaper than Viator. But we had already paid for ours so we will just live with it.

Good service - They say timing is everything: we walked the 200 yards from our cruise ship to stop one, redeemed our voucher and got on the bus which happened to be at the stop. We had a very informative trip round the bus route and eventually got off at the stop to the funicular. I understand why some previous reviews talk about waiting a long time for the bus if it is at the opposite side of the route when you are waiting to board but In our case there were absolutely no issues and the commentary on the bus was very good. Most of the attractions in Bergen are walkable but as stated the commentary was very good which you would miss.

Improvements can be made - We were told that with our mobile vouchers, we had to go to the cruise terminal in order to exchange our voucher for the entry ticket. It was a long walk to go to the terminal and afterwards the driver said we could have boarded at any stop 🥴. There was no signage for any of the City Sightseeing bus stops. How is one supposed to know where to wait for the bus?? Finally, the audio tapes were not totally in sync with the bus’ location. Sometimes the guide pointed out a monument or building and we could not see it. Also, sometimes the tape just stopped in mid sentence.

Confusing! - The most memorable part was the difficulty finding where the busses stopped so we could find one initially to get started and then identifying which of three companies we were riding. Three families were turned away one time because it was the wrong bus.

Rip-off and lack of education by roadside vendors - No clarification by seller, bus waiting at stop 40 min, instruction, ticket valid 24 h, last bus around 17.00!

Lack of transparency - Disappointing, maps of stops not available on the site, except for first stop. The brochure was inaccurate stating 15 stops but the last stop is inly on Sunday. It is not declared on paperwork

Far too expensive! If you are good on foot, then you should walk. If not, then there are better alternatives!!!! - View the hop on hop off buses are something great, just not in Bergen. We waited 45min for our bus, it didn't come. We then continued on foot, which was not nice, because I am currently not good on foot. We haven’t seen the originals anymore, but we have regularly seen some of the “competition”.

Save your money, poor trip - This was the worst Hop on Hop Off bus tour I have ever taken. Driver couldn’t work out the stop numbers and always got them wrong, the route which on the brochure went via the Funicular wasn’t actually the route taken by the bus, no explanation given as to why not. Journey generally wasn’t interesting. The commentary system was very hard to hear and not really fully in sync with the journey.

Very poor value for money - The cost of a single ticket is 475 NOK, that makes it close 45 USD. One full round journey is only 55 mins. Of course you can take multiple trips and the ticket is valid for 24 hours. But when I finished my other stuff and went back for a second round across the city, I realized that the service stops at 4pm. So the bus timings are only from 10am -4pm. I haven’t seen a Hop On Off charge so much and operate only for 6 hours in a day! What prevents them from operating for long when the days are so long in the summers. I found it to be a total scam! It’s just not worth 45USD. And they show you a very small part of the city anyway.
