An awesome guide makes the exhilarating mountain hike and fjord views even better! - Øystein, our guide, is quite possibly the most interesting and inspiring man you'll ever meet. He learned from his father to ski at 4 years old, and to climb as a child. He challenges himself to endurance races that span mountain ranges and raging rivers, climbs mountains such as Kilimanjaro and in Nepal, and daily runs "on a lazy day" a 10k. And that is just speaking to his athletic prowess. So when it was a rainy windy October day and our small band of three were challenged to make it to the top of Hananipa, we knew we were in great hands! Øystein is a professional in the outdoors and knew how to make the right call for the weather and our group. Hananipa is a steady climb made more challenging by the mud but we each looked out for one another and it was an absolute blast. We all laughed in between catching our breath and enjoyed reindeer sausage, brown cheese (oooh the brown cheese), and crackers at the summit! We all took pictures overlooking the gorgeous fjords as the clouds cleared up and the sun shone down for our return home! Øystein showed us the berries of the mountain and we tried a few. If your group makes the hike in a good time as ours did, you may get a bonus trip to a waterfall or someplace. My husband and I had an amazing hike and time with Øystein and you would do yourself a huge favor by hiking with him on your trip. He will plan out a great experience for you, trust me! Make sure to wear waterproof clothes and hiking boots!

Amazing views and guide - Øystein was an amazing guide and person. I had such a great time. The hike was fantastic. He made sure got up and down safely in the rain and mud. Very challenging but very amazing views. Øystein Even took us to a nearby waterfall since we finished the hike early. Hearing his stories made the trip even more great. I definitely think the hike’s categorization of moderate is relative. This hike was a little challenging for me and I workout pretty regularly. Just keep in mind that you are literally hiking up a mountain when booking!

Very good time spent differently - Love how our guide had taken into account the group's physical capabilities and to suggest different areas, asked for our opinions and we all had a great time just going up and up. It was a lovely experience and how he shared his knowledge on the landscape and the plants. Always maintaining to guide us and help us understand how to hike the terrain with care so that we will not be injured. Pacing it well for the whole group.

A lovely day out - I thoroughly enjoyed this walk. The guides were fantastic. (I was mainly with Normann because they thoughtfully split the group to accommodate participants who wanted to walk at a slower pace.) Both the guides and the participants were really good company. I had worried about the pace of the uphill walking beforehand but the company was quick to respond to my concerns. I’d highly recommend.

Best way to experience the great outdoors sights - Our guide Oystein took us to a great hiking trail overlooking the intersection of two fjords. Our small group was pretty experienced in hikes so he adapted to our very fast speed by adding an extra sightseeing spot to the tour which was amazing. The snacks he provided when we came down the mountain were mighty tasty local specialties as well. Recommended!

Beautiful hike with an amazing guide - Østein was a wonderful guide with great stories to tell. The hike was absolutely beautiful, with even an amazing extra drive to the Steindalsfossen because we were ahead of time.

Don’t Miss This! - Don’t miss this! I rarely write reviews and wanted to for this. I took my 15-year-old daughter with me and it was absolutely gorgeous. We only saw one other person on the trail. Worth every nickel for our guide and being away from bust Bergen 😊

Perfect group hike - I had a great time. The guide was great, chose where to go based on weather and best views. I was solo and they took photos of me and pointed out the good spots. Small group as well which made it better as you were able to get to know each other and set a good pace. We finished a bit earlier and we were taken to another spot to view the waterfall - really a great day out and would recommend using the team

Excellent hike - Both guides Joachim and Norman were excellent, were knowledgeable and knew how to make the trip fun. I would do the hike again with them if/when I come back to Bergen.
