• Tvindefossen - Tvindefossen is a stunning waterfall near Voss on the road to Flåm. This multi-stranded waterfall, standing 110 meters tall, is created by the Kroelvi stream cascading over a receding cliff. Renowned for its beauty, it attracts many visitors. In the late 1990s, Tvindefossen’s water gained fame for its rejuvenating properties and enhancement of sexual vitality, making it a significant natural tourist spot in western Norway. It drew around 200,000 visitors annually from the U.S., Japan, and Russia, who often collected the water. At one time, it was Norway’s ninth most visited natural attraction, with 272,000 visitors.
• Stalheimskleiva - The quaint village of Stalheim is located along the highway in the northeastern part of the Voss municipality. Positioned at a high point in the inner Nærøydal valley, which extends towards the Nærøyfjorden, the highway descends into the valley through a series of tunnels. The Stalheimsfossen waterfall is the area’s most notable sight, and the breathtaking view from the Stalheim hotel is famously depicted in several paintings.
• Njardarheimr - Viking Valley is situated in Gudvangen, at the heart of the unique fjord landscape in the Nærøyfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage site. • Naeroyfjord - The Nærøyfjord is a narrow fjord in the Aurland municipality in Sogn og Fjordane county, branching from the large Sognefjord. The fjord stretches 18 kilometers (11 mi) and narrows to just 250 meters (800 ft) in some areas. The Nærøydalselvi river flows into the fjord at the village of Gudvangen. Since 2005, the Nærøyfjord has been a UNESCO World Heritage site and was rated by National Geographic Society as the world’s top natural heritage site.
• Aurlandsfjord - Aurlandsfjord runs through the municipalities of Aurland, Vik, and Lærdal. This 29-kilometer (18 mi) long fjord is a branch of the main Sognefjorden, Norway’s longest fjord. It is deep and narrow, reaching depths of about 962 meters (3,156 ft) and generally less than 2 kilometers (1.2 mi) wide. About 11 kilometers (6.8 mi) south of the fjord’s mouth, the Nærøyfjord branches off to the west. The village of Flåm is located at the innermost part of the Aurlandsfjord, with other villages like Aurlandsvangen and Undredal along its shores. The fjord is surrounded by steep mountains up to 1,800 meters (5,900 ft) tall, with limited habitation except in a few small valleys.
• Kjosfossen Waterfall - Kjosfossen waterfall is one of Norway’s most visited tourist attractions, with a total fall of around 225 meters (738 ft). A small power station at the waterfall supplies electricity to the Flåm Line railway.
• Myrdal Station - The Bergen Railway is a scenic 496-kilometer (308 mi) long standard gauge railway line between Bergen and Oslo. It is the highest mainline railway in Northern Europe, crossing the Hardangervidda plateau at 1,237 meters (4,058 ft) above sea level. The railway opened from Bergen to Voss in 1883 as a narrow gauge line. In 1909, the route extended over the mountain to Oslo, converting to standard gauge, and the Voss Line became part of the Bergen Line. The single-track line was electrified between 1954 and 1964. The Flåm Railway remains the only branch line after the Hardanger Line’s closure.
• Flåmsbana - The Flåm Railway is a 20.2-kilometer (12.6 mi) long line between Flåm and Myrdal. As a branch of the Bergen Line, it traverses the Flåmsdalen valley, connecting the mainline with Sognefjorden. The line’s elevation difference is 866 meters (2,841 ft), featuring ten stations, twenty tunnels, and one bridge. With a maximum gradient of 5.5 percent (1:18), the Flåm Line is now primarily a tourist service and ranks as Norway’s third most visited tourist attraction. Construction began in 1924, and the line opened in 1940, providing the Sogn district access to Bergen and Oslo via the Bergen Line. Electric traction was introduced in 1944.
