Additional Information

Join us for a captivating half-day tour of Windsor Castle, St George’s Chapel, the castle’s picturesque surroundings, and the historic Royal Windsor town. Windsor Castle, in continuous operation since 1070, is the oldest and largest functioning royal castle globally, reportedly the preferred abode of the late Queen Elizabeth II, whose remains now rest in the royal crypt beneath St George’s Chapel.

Your tour will give you the chance to experience the splendid gardens and grounds of this historical castle, hear about its compelling history, starting from when William the Conqueror built it in 1070, through the unfortunate fire of 1992 and up to recent times when it ended up hosting the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral at St George’s Chapel.

You’ll have the opportunity, with an audio guide, to discover the State Apartments’ grand rooms.

To conclude your adventure at the castle, your guide will lead you through Windsor’s medieval lanes lined with timber-framed houses, leading up to a visit to the Long Walk.

Barbara was the VIP of Windsor - Barbara regaled us with stories from ALL the royal events because she was invited and attended. We heard how the flag changed when the King was in attendance (he was that day), the queen’s funeral procession and Harry and Meaghan’s wedding as well as all the architectural changes over 1,000 years. A great tour!

Highly recommend - Barbara, our guide, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable of history and monarchy of Windsor Castle. We're very glad we chose a private tour as oppose to renting the head phones and walking by ourselves. We would have missed so much history and all the little nuances of the castle and its residents.

knowledgable guide; minimal wait times - Barbara was very knowledgable! She was able to show us highlights with minimal wait times. We loved being able to see the dollhouse as well as the chapel. The only thing that could've topped it off would have been to see some of the royals!

The best tour on our trip. Thank you Paul! Tour date 8/1/2022 - Our guide Paul was the key to our most memorable experience. He had the answer and explanation to every question that I asked. We went through the castle with a perfect pace and details matching what we were seeing. He was a calm and well educated on not just the Royal Family but the history of the many Royals that came throughout Englands History.
