SchwuZ’s history is also closely linked with activism, especially during the AIDS crisis, and it remains a vibrant cultural hub for the LGBTQ+ community today.
• SO36 - The next stop is SO36, a club that captures the essence of West Berlin in the 1970s. The discussion will cover the economic challenges of the era that shaped the local club scene. SO36 became a center for punk, feminism, and counterculture, with music icons like David Bowie and Iggy Pop involved. The club also played a significant role in Berlin’s Turkish community and has evolved over the years, hosting events like Kreuzberg CSD and Mad & Disabled Pride. • Clubcommission e.V. - The tour then moves to the Club Commission, an organization committed to preserving the political and cultural significance of Berlin’s clubs.
