Additional Information

On a journey through a city where walls become canvases, artists unravel the mystique, history, methods, norms, and individual tales of graffiti and street art. A thorough history of graffiti and its associated culture.

Berlin’s atmosphere is heavy with aerosol paint. The noise of a spraycan shaking in the quiet of the night constitutes its background audio. A tag can narrate as complex a story as towering murals, and a high-pressure discharge from a fire extinguisher can be as expressive as a centuries-old art piece from a Dutch virtuoso. We’re privy to the historical and cultural aspects of it all. Allow the artists to guide you to the best locations and works, simultaneously providing a broad historical perspective on urban art in its contemporary Mecca.

Witness massive wall arts, high altitude spots, and spray paint graphics. Understand the art of trainbombing and tagging, used stencils, paste-ups, and adhesive arts, along with many more. The tour comprises a visit to the Urban Nation gallery and covers areas like Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain, and Schöneberg.

Incredible In-Depth Learning Experience - The tour was very interesting and taught me a lot about graffiti and street art, especially the techniques, the logistics around it, etc. Our guide, Rob, was so professional yet so kind and open, and I felt that he did an amazing job of being a professional guide and taking control whilst also welcoming questions and chats in between.

Recommended. A fun, engaging 3 hours. - Recommended. Rob was a fantastic guide; insightful commentary interspersed with humour and anecdotes and he coped really well with a varied group. A good opportunity to see parts of Berlin one is less likely to otherwise see as a tourist and a chance to see lots of interesting street art and graffiti.

A Wonderful Street Art tour in Berlin! - I was interested in this tour as it seemed to take you exploring off the beaten path in Berlin a bit and so I decided to give it a try off of that. I’m really glad I decided to try this tour out. I’m fascinated by street art and the artwork we saw during this walking tour was incredibly well done and super interesting to look at. A big thank you to our tour guide, Marnie. She did a wonderful job leading our group throughout this tour, filling us in on the history of street art in Berlin, and also teaching us about the various artists that have contributed and are still contributing to the scene today. We saw a lot in this artsy neighborhood in the Friedrichshain part of Berlin before we crossed the bridge on over into Wrangelkiez where we saw a few more iconic pieces of artwork. No stop is made at the East Side Gallery since it’s far more well known but you do walk past it and it’s to easy to go back to once this tour gets completed at the Astronaut Art mural. If you’re looking for something to see off the beaten path a bit in Berlin and love looking at street art then definitely book this tour! Highly recommended! - Nolan

Surpassed expectations - This was a fun walking tour and a great way to see a popular aspect of Berlin's culture. Our guide, Rob, was very knowledgeable and gave great insight into the world of street art. He described each piece of art with great depth and brought the world of a street artist to life for our group. I would highly recommend this to everyone and anyone who appreciates out of the box artistic endeavors. This tour surpassed my expectations and thanks to Rob, made this a memorable experience.

Highly recommend - Fantastic tour! Our guide Ben, an artist himself, was both fun and knowledgeable. He shared so much not just about the specific art and artists but also the evolution of the art over the years. Even my husband who usually does not like structured tours really enjoyed it.

Fantastic Tour - Our guide was Rob and he was absolutely incredible. So informative, funny, entertaining, and clearly very passionate about street art, with a wide breadth of knowledge about even random pieces that people on the tour asked him about. He was also great at managing a diverse group with varied backgrounds, ages, and interests, and encouraging people to be engaged. It helps that the street art in Berlin is second to none. The tour was well paced, super fun, and the time flew by. Highly, highly recommend, especially if you're lucky enough to have Rob as your guide.

It’s fine - The group was large and with all the noise in the city (construction, sirens, etc) it could be hard to hear the guide. 3 hours is a long time for a tour on graffiti.

Walk around cool areas of East Berlin - Interesting walk around a very hip neighborhood in the city with basic explanations of what is street art and graffiti. A bit disappointing the time it took to talk about graffiti (vandalism) vs real art (street art). Information was about how graffiti artist operate rather than about art itself, what would have been much more interesting

Choose the other street art tour - I do not write many negative reviews but feel like people should have some up front information. I was very excited about this street art tour. I found out later that this is not the original street art tour - I recommend you choose that one as this does not go to any of the most important or iconic art. Our 3 hour tour started more than 10 mintues late. After less than an hour of looking at a few pieces of minor art, we took a 20 minute break for coffee, but then waited an extra 10 minutes for a couple to buy coffee to go, so in the first half of the tour, almost half of that time was on break or just standing and waiting. The tour focused almost exclusively on immigrant graffiti on the opposite side of the city from the best street art. The guide Suzanna stopped our tour near the end and said that she had stickers with phrases her friend had made that were critical of the German government and the German government's treatment of immigrants. She then held out the stickers to everyone and said we could take them and stick them on the wall. She then waited for people to take them. Many of us were very uncomfortable with this. Some people took the stickers just because they felt they had to and a couple of people put them up on the wall. in my opinion this was highly inappropriate but characteristic of the guide's message while on the tour. Again I was really looking forward to seeing the art on the wall and the most famous murals and hearing what they represented. You won't get any of that on this tour. I suggest WithLocals if you can't get in to the other street art tour.
