Great Museum for Families - Great museum to get a feel for life in East Berlin. My kids (and I) loved how interactive the entire museum is. My favorite part is the apartment recreation, complete with Soviet-looking wallpaper.

Engaging but small - The museum was very interesting and accessible for tourists with every sign being in German and English. It's very hands on. There are lots of physical objects as well as models and signs so it doesn't get boring, and there are full mock-up rooms in a few areas too. My only problem was that it was extremely busy and the physical space of the museum is quite small, so it's hard to move around and see what you want to see. It might be better if it had a certain number of tickets available at any one time to limit overcrowding. The museum was also quite short. Aside from that it was really good and I think worth a visit.

Knowing more about East Berlin history - Interesting museum, that shows how was the life in the East Berlin from the 60s and during the Cold War. A lot of information about. Even they have real stuffs from that time , so it will be easy to situate us in the past. If you’re interested in history, this museum has to be seen.

Ok - Free with Berlin welcome card and it is a very good museum but oh my goodness no air conditioning, very busy so in certain areas it was very hot and uncomfortable. No seating, they do have lockers make sure you have a euro and a fairly good gift shop

For Kids - I took my kids and they found it interesting. I was unhappy because it was small, overcrowded and had no air conditioning so it was hot. I also am not a fan of having to open lots of doors and drawers to see information. Not sanitary if millions of people are touching it all day. Also was freaked out by the asbestos displayed behind a cube of plexiglass. I think it would be a lot better to remove that hazard and just explain about it on a plaque.
