The erstwhile Sachsenhausen concentration camp, was one of the first camps constructed with the express intent of terrorizing, persecuting, torturing, and murdering those the Nazis deemed racially, politically, or socially inferior. As you journey to this notorious camp, you’ll pass through the nearby town of Oranienburg - a settlement which benefited from its proximity to the camp. Your experienced, licensed guide will escort you around the past prison and punishment cells, infirmaries, living quarters, gas chamber, and crematorium. You’ll hear inspiring tales of defiance and unity amongst the prisoners in almost impossible circumstances. The tour will also take you to the Inspectorate of Camps, a seemingly ordinary building where the Nazis orchestrated their pan-European concentration camp operations.
