It draws numerous tourists and stands as one of the most iconic and popular examples of Ottoman architecture.
- Hagia Sophia Mosque - Hagia Sophia (Turkish: Ayasofya; Ancient Greek: Ἁγία Σοφία, romanized: Hagía Sophía; Latin: Sancta Sapientia; meaning ‘Holy Wisdom’), officially the Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque (Turkish: Ayasofya-i Kebir Cami-i Şerifi), is a mosque and former church that serves as a significant cultural and historical landmark in Istanbul, Turkey. It is the last of three church buildings successively constructed on the site by the Eastern Roman Empire, completed in AD 537. The site was a Greek Orthodox church from AD 360 to 1453, except for a brief period as a Latin Catholic church between the Fourth Crusade and 1261. Following the fall of Constantinople in 1453, it functioned as a mosque until 1935, when it was converted into a museum. In 2020, it was once again designated as a mosque.
- Topkapi Palace - The Topkapı Palace (Topkapı Sarayı) served as the main residence and administrative center of the Ottoman sultans. The palace and its Harem are likely to have more vibrant stories than most museums worldwide. Lustful sultans, ambitious courtiers, beautiful concubines, and scheming eunuchs lived and worked here from the 15th to the 19th centuries when it was the heart of the Ottoman Empire. A visit to the palace’s lavish pavilions, jewel-filled Treasury, and expansive Harem offers a captivating insight into their lives.
- Grand Bazaar - Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar (Kapalı Çarşı) is Turkey’s largest covered market, providing an excellent shopping experience. Spanning a total area of 45,000 square meters with around 4,000 shops, the Grand Bazaar is a must-visit if you find yourself in Istanbul. It offers a wide range of items, from exquisite Turkish carpets to glazed tiles and pottery, copper and brassware, leather, cotton, and wool apparel, meerschaum pipes, bookends, ashtrays, jewelry, and much more. With 21 entrances and 4,000 shops, the Grand Bazaar is the world’s largest historical covered market. In 2014, with 91 million visitors in a year, it ranked among the most visited tourist destinations globally. Despite the evolving times and the emergence of new shopping markets, customer preferences have shifted, causing it to lose some of its

Great trip to Istanbul and Cappadocia - There were four of and Mohammad planned our trip for Cappadocia and Istanbul. We selected a private tour with a guide. Mohammad was great, he was available by phone and whatsapp, he met us at airport and hotel. The guides were very good, Ozgur in Istanbul was especially good and knowledgeable about the history. We spent 3 days and it was great in that we managed to see the main spots.
Our trip to Cappadocia was also very good.

Twin Travels - I redid the tour recently with a friend after 27 years. The Hagia Sophia stop was a short one. I previously went upstairs too but understandably there's a time constraint and the queues to get in are another story apart from the weather. The tour guides were great: knowledgable and accomodating. Lunch was superb and overall arrangements cant be faulted.
