John. & Susies Day trip to Troy - We were picked up on time ( an early start 0630hrs for a very long day) . We were transported in a small mini bus. With a stop on route for morning tea/ toilets etc. Lunch in Cannake ( was nice & sufficient) We were then split into groups- some to galipoli- us to Troy. We got ferry across the dardanelles ( only 15mins- 20mins on way back). We had photo time with Trojan horse used in movie - then onto the real Troy. Our guide was informative of the site ( various time periods). Always time for photos & to ask questions. After a small snack break & time to buy gifts . Bus & ferry return. A stop at previous location for a half hour odd for tea on way back & dropped off at ones hotel . Arrived at hotel 2100hrs. A long day but a good one. To Note: we accidentally left some t shirts that we brought on the trip in the back of our tour bus . I contacted Crowded house company immediately, when we found that we had forgotten them - & they so kindly dropped them off at our hotel the very next morning. Now that is great service & we very much appreciated such. Thank you.

A long day, but worth it - My husband took this trip, and described it as flawlessly organized. They added our hotel to the pick-up list. The morning trip included a half-hour stop. Efficient transfer to a different shuttle van after the ferry across the Dardanelles. They were joined there by a very informative and qualified guide -- a trained archeologist who had worked on the site since he was a teenager. This trip makes for a very long day, but if you're into Troy, well worth it.

Needs some improvements but definitely worth the time and money - Our guide was very knowledgeable. However, the trip was a bit rushed. We started Troy in reverse chronological order (im.assumong to save time) and then at the end, I had to choose between using the restroom and buying Souvenirs. I chose the restroom and then I only had time to grab the first magnet that I saw. I wanted to get a tshirt but there was no time to look at options or decide on sizes. Other than that, the drive was smooth (a bit long but that's out of the tour's control) but it was comfortable. Would definitely recommend. I'd like to suggest to mgmt to cut breakfast break a bit shorter so that the tour doesn't have to rush to catch the ferry back.

Interesting Ruins, Decent Guide, Be Prepared for a Long Drive (to and from) - It’s a little difficult for me to find it interesting to look at ancient ruins, but I believe our tour guide did a decent job in doing this. I got the gist of the flow of events and I appreciated the numerous references to the 2004 movie to help with the understanding. I believe the language barrier was a bit significant to be overlooked since there were some parts where our tour guide was mentioning singular words and I had to guess their corresponding meaning. The tour logistics was well organized - the operators reached out to me days beforehand to confirm information, the driver shared that we would be having stopovers, and the tour office receptionist double confirmed each of our tours and transit arrangements to and from. I’m not sure if this is a good offering for people staying in Istanbul since it would basically be 5-7 hours of transit to Troy, 2 hours in the archaeological site itself, then 5-7 hours of transit to Troy. Part of me thinks that this should be offered strictly as an overnight package, or limited to those staying in the Canekkele area.

Great, really!! ... but - Troy is amazing. The depth of history is something to behold. BUT. Probably avoid my mistake of doing this as a day trip from Istanbul. It is 5-6hrs there, and maybe 1-2hrs tour around the site, then 5-6hrs back. I advise to stay in the region overnight - there are other things to do, Gallipoli etc.. The tour operator were great though, pick up and drop off no problem and very well organised with transfers. This is not a slight on the operator, but dont do Troya as a single daytrip from Istanbul. Make the most of your time. Unless you are OK to spend 12 hrs on a bus and ferries.

Great tour. Very long day! - We did Troy from Istanbul. It is an extremely long day. We were picked up at 6:45 AM and didn’t get back to our hotel room until 10:30 PM. You only spend about one hour visiting Troy itself and the rest of the time is in transfer and a short period for Lunch. Our guide at Troy was very good and entertaining. The lunch was good. Overall, the trip was educational and it was interesting to see Troy, but be prepared for an extremely long day.

Chaotic and below standard expected - Once we arrived at Troy the tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the visit interesting. However, the trip itself is very chaotic with multiple bus changes, the lunch was disappointing and not of a good standard, additionally we had this at 1130. We didn’t get back to Istanbul until 940pm with no other opportunity to get food, as whilst we stopped on the way back (30minutes) at the same place we had lunch, they had stopped serving food. With a little better planning it would be quite simple to incorporate dinner into this tour. Overall I’m glad we went however wouldn’t recommend unless some changes were made to make the trip more pleasurable for guests rather than just a money making excrcise.
