Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to Thimphu, the modern capital of Bhutan.

Full day Sightseeing in Thimphu. (B/L/D)

Tashichho Dzong (Thimpu Dzong) - Visit Trashichhoedzong, a stunning medieval fortress/monastery that houses most of the Government’s offices and the King’s Throne room. It also serves as the summer residence of Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot. Next, visit the National Library, which boasts a vast collection of ancient Buddhist texts and manuscripts. Afterward, drive to the Arts & Crafts School, renowned for traditional thangka paintings. Here, you can observe students creating intricate designs on cloth.

After lunch, visit the Handicrafts Emporium, which showcases a wide array of beautifully hand-woven and crafted products. Then, drive to the Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in memory of Bhutan’s Third King, who is fondly regarded as the Father of modern Bhutan. The paintings and statues inside this monument offer deep insights into Buddhist philosophy. Overnight at a hotel in Thimphu.

Drive from Thimphu to Punakha and Sightseeing. (B/L/D)

Punakha Dzong - After breakfast, drive to Punakha with a brief stop at Dochula pass (3,080m) to take in the view and admire the Chorten, mani wall, and prayer flags that adorn the highest point on the road. If the skies are clear, you can see the following peaks from this pass (left to right): Masagang (7158m), Tsendagang (6960m), Terigang (7060m), Jejegangphugang (7158m), Kangphugang (7170m), Zongphugang (7060m), a table mountain that dominates the isolated region of Lunana, and finally Gangkar plenum, the highest peak in Bhutan at (7497m).

Later, visit Punakha Dzong, strategically built at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to serve as the region’s religious and administrative center. Punakha Dzong has played a significant role in Bhutan’s history. Despite being damaged by four catastrophic fires and an earthquake, the Dzong has been fully restored. Afterward, drive to Wangduephodrang to visit the Dzong and the local market.

Originally built as a Watch Tower, it has served as the National Museum since 1967, holding a fascinating collection of art, artifacts, thangka paintings, and Bhutan’s exquisite postage stamps.

Afterward, walk down a hillside trail to visit Rinpung Dzong. Built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the first spiritual and temporal ruler of Bhutan, the Dzong houses the monastic body of Paro, the office of the Dzongda (district administrative head), and the Thrimpon (judge) of Paro district.
