Lisbon to Porto
Obidos - The walled city of Óbidos, nestled in the heart of western Portugal and surrounded by hills, stands atop a cliff.
As we stroll through the streets, we encounter remnants of ancient civilizations at every step. From each corner, garden, and facade, spanning from the old medina to Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque influences, this town is a living, breathing work of art. The heritage of old times, blended with local culture, gives this town a unique essence of Portugal.
Alcobaca - The greatest love story in Portugal is enshrined in the world heritage monument within the town. Nearly 1,000 years old, this Gothic monument and its historical significance in Portuguese history, as the resting place of two lovers, make it a must-visit for anyone in Portugal.
Nazare - Known worldwide for its massive waves, Nazare offers more than just surfing. Before Our Lady of Fatima appeared to the three young shepherds, Nazare was the largest pilgrimage site in Portugal. Notable explorers like Vasco da Gama and Pedro Alvares Cabral came here to pray before embarking on their voyages. Come and discover why.
Vila Nova de Gaia - The best view of Porto is from Gaia, specifically from Serra do Pilar, the city facing Porto across the river.
Porto - We’ll conclude our first day with a drop-off at your hotel in Porto or Gaia.
Douro Valley tour from Porto
Amarante - After an hour on the highway, our journey takes a scenic turn as we exit in Amarante, transitioning to the national road that leads us into the enchanting Douro Valley.
Douro River - As we descend from Amarante to Regua, part of our route runs parallel to the Douro River, offering breathtaking views along the way.
Peso Da Regua - Located at the heart of Douro Valley, nestled at the bottom of the valley alongside the Douro River, this is likely where we’ll decide to have lunch and enjoy some wine tasting.
Estr. Nacional 222 - Traveling from Regua to Pinhao on Route 222, surrounded by the UNESCO Vineyard Steps, this stretch of road is considered one of the most beautiful in the world.
Pinhao - This will be our turnaround point for the tour. After a relaxing time in this peaceful and unique place that seems to transport us back in time, we’ll begin our journey back to Porto, which should take between 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours.
Porto tour and Porto to Lisbon
Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral) - We’ll start our first walking tour in Porto here. You’ll have the chance to admire the exterior of the Cathedral while we park the car.
Sao Bento Railway Station - This famous train station, considered one of the most beautiful in the world, features walls adorned with scenes from Portuguese history.
Rua das Flores - We’ll walk along this famous street that connects the top of the city with downtown Porto.
Cais da Ribeira - The renowned area in front of the river is the most appealing and enjoyable part of the city. You’ll have some time here while we go uphill to retrieve the car and take you to the top of the city for a short walking tour featuring “Clérigos, Lello, and Carmo.”
Livraria Lello - This famous bookstore is said to have inspired J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter library. Usually, there’s a long line to enter, so it’s up to you if you want to wait. We recommend viewing it from the outside. This is part of our second walking tour.
Torre dos Clerigos - One of Porto’s iconic symbols, this famous tower is close to Lello and Carmo and is part of our second walking tour.
Igreja do Carmo - This beautiful, tile-covered church is part of our second walking tour and is near Lello and Clérigos. The world record holder for the “smallest house in the world” is also here. Again, entering is optional.
Porto - Another sightseeing tour with the van will cover most of the city. We’ll then depart from Porto to Fatima.
Fatima - On the way back from Porto to Lisbon, we’ll stop to visit the world-famous Shrine of Fatima, where Our Lady of the Rosary appeared to the three young shepherds.
