With custom-made high-intensity LED light boards, we invite you into the nocturnal playground of these gentle giants. Imagine floating weightlessly as the Manta Rays glide elegantly through the darkness, inches away from your awe-struck gaze. With wingspans of up to 16 feet and weighing up to 1,600 pounds, it’s truly awe-inspiring, but safe as mantas have no teeth, stingers, or barbs. They are filter-feeders and are here strictly to gorge themselves upon microscopic plankton attracted to the lights.
Before the adventure begins, you’ll receive a safety and Manta Ray briefing, ensuring you’re prepared for this otherworldly encounter.

Join us for an exhilarating sunset Manta Ray Tour, ranked among the top 10 must-do activities in a lifetime. Check-in will be at our in-water slip (G-8), where our crew will provide a safety briefing for both the boat and the water with the Manta Rays. Enjoy a pleasant 10-15 minute ride to one of two snorkeling destinations. Upon arrival, you’ll spend 40-45 minutes in the water, marveling at the Manta Rays with our experienced swim guides. Our boat features a convenient ladder and comfortable seating for the return trip to the harbor.
Our boat accommodates a maximum of 10 passengers and 2 crew members, with a tour minimum of 4 guests. While rescheduling is rare, we will make every effort to rebook you during your stay if necessary.

Our 31′ 2014 Ocean Craft RHIB (Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat) – “NATURE SCHOOL II”, and check-in area are located at Honokohau Harbor slip G-8. We are reached from both north and south of Kailua-Kona via Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Hwy 19). Follow the signs to the Harbor entrance.

September Mantas - My wife and I took this tour, and it is a MUST DO when you come to the big island!!! Absolutely awe-inspiring!! Brian and Moana are first class all the way!!

Outstanding experience and crew! Fun nighttime ride on a comfortable small boat, with beautiful sight of manta rays. - Brian is an excellent captain and engaging guide, and Moana is a talented diver who made sure we found a great spot to observe the manta rays. It was a truly beautiful and unique experience. The small boat made for a more personal and intimate outing than larger boats, and the boat ride itself was memorable and fun. The hot cocoa on the return ride hit the spot, and having Moana airdrop his videos of our sightings to our iPhones was an unexpected and appreciated bonus. Highly recommend Brian and his team!

One of the coolest experiences ever! - Believe the hype. This was truly one of the most memorable things I've ever done. There were so many manta's out the night we went. It's almost like they were putting on a show, coming so close to you while somehow not touching. Captain Brian and Moana were super helpful and I highly recommend choosing this small group experience (our family of 5 had the tour to ourselves!). Moana even sent us (no charge) the videos he took of the manta's during our outing.

Don’t hesitate - book the night swim with mantas! - Unbelievable experience. I was apprehensive at first thinking I’ll be cold and cranky but any reservations quickly disappeared once I got in the water and saw mantas gliding and swooping across the lit up ocean. It was magical, ethereal…otherworldly! They got so close I had to move out of the way so we wouldn’t be touching. Very happy I did this - totally exhilarating. It was a nice touch that Captain Brian had hot tea and cocoa waiting once we got back on the boat. 100% recommend.

The best experience ever! - This was the best experience we could have had on the island! Brian was incredibly attentive to our comfort. We saw plenty of manta rays and dolphins! Our guide took the time to ensure we had the best spot to be close to the rays. The rays even came up and touched us! Afterward, we enjoyed hot chocolate, snacks, and a sharing session of the photos and videos taken with the GoPro of the guide. I loved that we were a small group, which made the experience feel even more private and sensational. Truly the best experience!

Hawaii Marine Life Charters - A Must Do!! - We scheduled two manta ray tours with Brian, owner of Hawaii Marine Life Tours in the month of June. With the boat seating 6 our family had the boat to ourselves. What a fabulous time we had and an experience we won’t forget. You can’t believe the beauty and grace of the mantas. Brian and crew made sure everyone was comfortable and well fitted with wet suits and snorkels. This tour is a must do while on Hawaii.

Best snorkel trips ever - We took 2 separate snorkel trips with Hawaii Marine Life Charters in June. Based on other snorkel trips we’ve taken in the past, this tops the list. A small group experience with personal service from Brian and crew. They make sure all group members feel comfortable on the boat as well as in the water. I would highly recommend Hawaii Marine Life Charters!

Manta Ray Tour is a Must Do! - We had an amazing time with Brian and Moana on the Manta Ray tour! They were easy to talk to, gave us all the information we needed, and helped us along the way. The boat ride was fun, seeing the Manta Rays was an amazing experience, and the hot chocolate and cookies were the icing on the cake when we returned to the boat. Brian did an awesome job including my 12 year old daughter in the conversations and made sure she felt comfortable. I loved the small family feeling with just 6 guests on the boat. Looking forward to a snorkel adventure with Brian soon!

Best choice, amazing charter!! - Wow! What an experience!! I am glad that we chose Captain Brian to take us out for this night snorkel to see the manta rays. He and his swim guide were so friendly and easy to talk to! This was a great personal experience. Having a small group was fantastic! I will choose them again next time we are here!
