- Kahalu’u Beach Park - This is a private one on one lesson where you will get the maximum attention with your own personal instructor. Once arriving at the beach, you will be sized up for gear with a foam top surfboard, reef walker surf shoes to protect your feet and a SPF surf shirt to protect against sun burn and surf rash. After getting outfitted with gear a hands on demonstartion will take place covering all the fundamentals of surfing, including proper technique and etiquette, the pop up method and a detailed on shore and in water safety briefing. All lessons are 2 hours total. Complimentary drinking waters will be available after each lesson.

Fun and Safe - Had lots of fun with Bradley, who provided me some really useful feedback and tips on how to improve. Felt safe. Definitely a must do activity while you are in Kona.

Great surf instructors who will get you standing up! - Brad is awesome. So is the other guy (forgot his name). Super great vibes and willing to take you where you can push your limit if you want to (while keeping you safe and creating good boundaries). First time I’ve ever stood up on a surf board and felt sturdy.

My son had a blast! This... - My son had a blast! This was his second time taking lessons, but the first time riding solo on a board. Bradley was amazing and gave my son the added confidence to catch a wave (while standing!). If you’re ever on the Big Island. We recommend 1:1 sessions with Bradley

Best experience!! - I had a great time! This was my first time ever getting on a surfboard. I wasn’t sure I could do it but my instructor Bradley was amazing. He was a great teacher, with good instruction. I was actually able to catch waves and surf! I would definitely recommend this company and request Bradley.
Also a plus that he’s hot! 😜

First time surfing? Private lesson is the best. - It was so much fun! The instructions were great and I stood up.on the board on my first wave, then I was able to consistently surf the waves after 30 min of instructions and the lesson was a blast.

Max is the best - I’ve now taken 3 private lessons with Max & I have nothing but glowing things to say. No doubt that Ohana is a great surf company as Kaleo has helped me with modifications to my reservations with ease. That said, Max has the secret sauce when it comes to teaching. He’s got a good head on his shoulders, really focusing on making sure not to over complicate your surfing experience. I was able to get up by day 1 but I experienced the joy of riding a wave today, which speaks to his incredible ability to be a guide. I’ve got the surf bug and it’s definitely because of all of Max’s help — the cherry on top is what a great & funny person he is apart from being an instructor. If you’re on the fence with other companies, choose this place & ask for Max! What a gem. Mahalo

Highly recommend - I booked two group lessons this week and both classes and the booking process were perfect. I highly recommend asking for Max as an instructor. He is calm, sociable and makes you feel at ease at all times.

Book with these guys now! - Did quite a bit of research before booking a lesson. A lot of people had a lot of good things to say about Ohana surf lessons, and they seemed like a smaller company as compared to some of the others, so I decided to schedule a lesson with them. I was able to schedule a lesson through their website, and they followed up very quickly with a text message confirming everything and providing very detailed directions to the beach where the lesson would take place. Beach was only 10 minutes from where we were staying in the waterfront area of Kona. Max was our instructor. Super chill and laid back dude. He did a really good job explaining everything and getting us through some dry runs on the beach. Once we hit the water, his enthusiasm was pretty infectious. We were able to get up on our first waves, and Max was cheering us on the entire time. We were probably “catching waves” within the first half hour or so, and spent the rest of the time in the water. It was awesome. Max was awesome. Communication with the company was spot on. If you’re looking for a good company for surf lessons, I highly recommend Ohana Surf Lessons!

Great surfing lessons - Fun surfing lesson especially for first time surfers. Max is a great instructor and was good at noticing and correcting mistakes. He got us standing up pretty quickly 🏄🏻♂️🏄🏻♂️🏄🏻♂️
