Nice people - Love the front desk gal Latoya. Love Her energy and was very welcoming and informative. Told me the breakfast buffet Style. Which is good stuff. But her great customer service is what stood out for me the most. Keep up the great work and attitude!!

Highlight of our Vacation! - We experienced such a variety of things in the Hilo area with Scott. He gave us great recommendations as to where to go, and he was flexible with us on the fly—stopping off at local farmers markets by the roadside, seeing black sand beaches, lava tunnels, waterfalls, etc. Seeing the aftermath of the 2018 lava flow and it’s powerful destruction was incredible. Scott knows the area because he lives there. He is knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. He made this adventure more than we ever hoped for during our family vacation!

Customer Service Beyond Expectations - Although we did not get to go on our scheduled tour, I want to give a shout-out to Scott. Due to a medical emergency we had to cancel our scheduled reservation less than a week out. After providing collaborating documentation, our pre-paid booking was fully refunded. (We had other scheduled tours on other islands for this trip that were not refunded.) Once we do make it to Hilo, I will definitely be reaching out to Scott again.

A great Tour! - I really wanted to write a review that didn't echo what every one else has said and delayed for way too long.
As it is, I fear I'll sound like most of the reviewers on this site -- "best experience eve"r.
All that can be said is that our time with Scott was darn near perfect. We saw several sites that we would have missed on our own including the famous "lava lot" . The chance to walk across recently flowing lava and see how it is transforming into new land was awesome. Being on the ground, especially with such a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide put many of the sites I saw on TV and YouTube into perspective.
He packed a lot of sites into the time and yet we never felt rushed.
I would very highly recommend touring with Scott to anyone visiting the Big Island.
Mahalo, Scott.

Tour of the Hilo Side of the Big Island - Tour of the Hilo Side of the Big Island
Scott was an excellent tour guide allowing us to customize our time on this beautiful side of the island. He was very accommodating and patient taking us to some of the secret places. Scott provides a no rush and not a go-go tour but going at your pace. Prior to the tour he responded very quickly answering all our questions and then recommending some of the places and things to do and see. We visited the Rainbow Falls, Alkaka Falls, Coconut island, the Macadamia Nut factory and many more. Also we walked on the newly formed lava field that was created last year during the volcanic eruption also seeing some of the home destroyed during this disaster.
Strongly recommend him to make best use of your time on this island.

Grand Tour - Scott was courteous and professional on our tour of Hilo. We got to see the rainbow falls and an Orchid Garden . The garden had a $20000 orchid on display...wow. We also toured the lava park and some of the area of the most recent volcano activity. Fortunately, the volcano was not active but the damage it had done was still evident because many areas of the park were off limits. We also got to see a lava bridge going into the ocean. Not an easy path over a lava flow but definitely worth the trip. Scott shared several photos of the recent volcano activity. They were fascinating! Would ride with him again!

Excellent Customized Tour - Scott was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our tour and time with him. Scott met us as we approached the terminal exit with a sign and we were on the road well ahead of the shuttle buses and crowds. Being able to see Rainbow and Akaka Falls before the first tourists arrived. We then went to Volcanoes National Park for the remainder of the time we had where Scott showed us his favorite spots and described what we were seeing and how things occurred or happened, answering the questions we had. I believe Scott was as excited showing us his area of the island as we were seeing it for the first time. This private custom tour was definitely the right choice given the limited time the cruise ship was in port and I highly recommend Scott for those wanting to tour while in Hilo. I will definitely booking with Scott the next time we are there. Mahalo Scott for showing us your island - J McGee

Great Tour! - We had such a great day! It was a last minute booking and we were so happy Scott was able to accommodate us! He not only showed us everything we wanted to see, but he taught us so much as well! He’s so well informed about the island and happy to share it all with us! We also had one big request (to see turtles) and Scott was able to find them for us! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the island and learn about it at the same time!

Churchill Hotel Bayeux- You can do better! - The Churchill Hotel in Bayeux is in an absolutely fabulous location. If your primary concern is location, then by all means, this is a spot to consider. Otherwise, the place is rather lack luster in many ways. The hotel is a lovely older building. While it can be hard to walk that fine line of preserving the older ambiance and embracing the current century; the Churchill certainly fails here. Only one outlet for a cell phone or similar device in our room. How many couples travel with just one cell? How many people have only one device? Are they to stay up half the night to charge everything? Why is it so hard for management to provide some sort of charging port? No in room coffee/tea. Why then no hospitality table with same in the lobby? Toiletries consisted of harsh liquid soap. Why not partner with an artesian toiletry producer to provide a quality shampoo, bath wash and at least soap rather than roadside rest area caliber of liquid soap? These are all minor upgrades that would require little expense and effort.
Most staff members were polite, (other than the woman who scowled at us when face cloths were requested), but the staff were certainly more engaged with their devices than with the guests. This is more reflective upon management than upon staff.
There is no elevator and no assigned staff to assist with bags. Definitely request a lower floor if this is an issue for you. Again, this could be a minor fix for management. Just have staff offer assistance. Most will likely refuse, but it's always nice to be asked.
There is a nearby market if you don't care to bring shampoo and etc. and can't make do with harsh liquid soap.
Our room was tiny and not as pictured on on line booking site. While staff in general seemed a bit unmotivated, the cleaning staff are awesome and do a terrific job here!
Can't comment upon breakfast as based upon reviews of others, we opted out.
It's too bad that management doesn't invest just a little effort and minor upgrades, as with it's location and lovely bones this hotel could really be something.
