Abalone in your hands - Very interesting. I learned so much about these creatures from Karin. She let us hold them and other safe sea creatures. This is a manual farm that includes sea weed production as well. It’s not a long excursion but worth the time.

Informational Tour at Abalone Farm in Kona - Our tour guide Karin was very knowledgeable and friendly. She showed us and spoke about every area of the facility in detail. We had the opportunity for a hands on experience with several items. We learned a lot about abalone, what they eat, how often and how they live and grow. She also told us more about the history of the farm and the uniqueness of the Kona coast. Samples were provided as well as a food truck that offered more options to eat abalone after the tour. We suggest offering the abalone sauted in butter and garlic for samples.

Great tour! - Read a lot of reviews that this tour was “informative” and “informational” and was worried it might not be that great of a fit for our 5 year old. This tour absolutely was informative and informational but was also fun! Our 5 year old loved it and so did we. We never knew holding an abalone could be so cool, they are awesome little creatures. We enjoyed learning about all the different stages of the abalone. The sea grapes and seaweed were delicious. The abalone itself wasn’t our favorite but it was still an experience. Our tour guide, Charlie was kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. We are so glad we went!

Meh - The tour was just OK. I would never recommend it to anyone. Would be good as a stop on an islands foods tour or something but not worth the time/money on it's own. Was hoping to have lunch at the food truck but they didn't have grilled abalone on the menu and nothing else seemed good after having tasted steamed and canned abalone on the tour.
