Highlights
  • 100 Kulaniapia Dr - Join our Chef’s Table at Kulaniapia Falls for an exclusive evening of lovely local-style food and conversation in a casual and gorgeous setting. This will not be a restaurant style experience: we are a small and exclusive local-style venue that sources ingredients daily.

Our chefs create each evening’s menu based on what is fresh, local, and in season. Our goal is to present at least 80% Hawaiian ingredients to showcase the bounty and beauty of our islands.

Our philosophy is to provide an immersive but unpretentious dining experience where guests learn about local food and culture while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow guests and the awesome natural beauty of Kulaniapia Falls. Chefs will explain the sources of local ingredients, share information about the history of Hawaiian food cultures, and present a series of tasting-menu style dishes to delight all of your senses.

There is an optional wine pairing that you may pay for separately on arrival.

When you book through third parties (which you are if you are reading this message), unfortunately, we cannot accommodate any dietary restrictions, so please come prepared to eat anything the chef might dream up.

Dinner by the falls - Sitting by the falls, eating locally grown foods prepared by chef Rachel was the highlight of our visit. She has a knack for combining spices to make the most of each course. I especially enjoyed the soup course and the salad which was unlike any beet salad I ever had. And, she has a friend who is a gourmet baker. Save room and if you are lucky, she might be serving flourless chocolate cake when you visit.

Chef's Dinner a delicious success. - Wonderful experience of carefully curated local ingredients --- creative and fun. And the view from the dining area -- overlooking the Falls -- is extraordinary and added to the ambiance. Soup with local mushrooms, and fish with honey sauce were very special.

Wonderful chef! - Chef Rachel was so kind, and cooked us a fantastic meal! Everything we had over the 6 courses was seriously great. It was special, being that there were only 4 diners. We took our time and enjoyed it all. The presentation was wonderful too. Mahalo!

Delicious and innovative! - The friendly chef gave us a tasting tour of Hawaii in these dishes made from 80-90% Hawaiian ingredients, some of which were sourced from farms within walking distance. We loved the breadfruit hummus with taro chips, squash soup, sustainable venison chop served with broccolini and local purple sweet potato (SO delicious, with a delicate smoky flavor), flourless Hawaiian chocolate cake and other items I’ve forgotten! They took special requests for non-meat eaters as well. A perfect meal—filling in that good, solid, healthy way, but not leaving us feeling overstuffed.

Perfect evening - We had a wonderful meal - it was a small party (six people total). We all sat at one table overlooking the waterfall. Lisa and Ishan (our chefs) prepared a delicious meal focused on ingredients that were local to the islands. The food was delicious, the timing was perfect, and the company and conversation perfect.

Great experience - The setting is lovely. The highlight of our stay was our chef’s dinner with Lisa as our chef. She provided wonderful attention to detail and descriptions of the meal and it’s local sourcing. We had a delicious ‘uala (sweet potato) soup (harvested from her garden) and ‘uku (blue green snapper). It is pricey, but worth it.

A magical time - The drive up there goes thru 2 gates, This tells you it will be exclusive and very private. Check in was casual, easy and informative. They give you a quick tour at check in of all available facilities. Room was cozy. Do not expect the Ritz for amenities. But for being next to the waterfall it is outstanding. Bed was comfortable, shower was clean and large. It truly feels like a bed and breakfast in the best setting. You hear the waterfall thru your windows the entire time. We chose to do the Chef's Dinner. It was incredible. The pace was perfect and the food locally sourced and expertly prepared. I would absolutely recommend staying here, but if it is too expensive to stay, at minimum do the day pass. The waterfall and pool to swim in are like nothing you can find elsewhere on the island.
