Fabulous tour! Covers - Our guide Mel was fantastic! He was extremely knowledgeable about the Hawaiian history and culture. The Volcano National park should not be missed and Mel made sure we understood the science related to volcanoes. We also enjoyed seeing all the turtles at the black beach. I would highly recommend this tour!!!

Dedicate your day to this tour and you won’t be disappointed. - From the moment our tour van pulled up Braddah Mel had us feeling like ohana. We had a small group of 7 so the entire tour felt very personal. It was a long day but Braddah Mel made the drive between stops fly by as he filled the time with seemingly endless wisdom of the island and shared with us stories of his own upbringing with his ohana to shine some light on his island culture and their respect for the land and self. It was awesome to be treated like family and not just the tourists of the day. We started the journey passing by the magic sands beach. Followed by a quick stop at a beach that’s a peppered mix of black sand and coral that made the sand a cool looking peppered grey. We then cruised to a coffee plantation and learned how the locals go about making their coffee from planting to your cup. This stop came with plenty of free samples of over half a dozen blends. We drove through the worlds largest macadamia plantation which was quite impressive. On our way to the southern part of the island we stopped off at the Punalu’u Bake Shop for lunch. Their sweet breads are so good it’s a shame they’re not available around the world. The seafood supreme sandwich isn’t much to look at, but could possibly be the best tasting cold seafood sandwich I’ve ever had. From the Bake Shop we headed over to a black sand beach where we got to see a sleeping sea turtle (from 20’ away to protect their peace) and watch as a group of sea turtles rode the waves. Our next stop was the volcano national park where we got to see the massive caldera, visit some steam vents, walk through a lava tube and explore a lava shelf that looked like a cliff but was just one big former flow all the way to the sea. Overall from the Kona pickup to drop off the day took 12 hours. At times I felt bad for Braddah Mel because that’s quite some time to dedicate to a tour, but he never once gave off the impression that he was ready to call it a day. Big mahalo to Braddah Mel for the wonderful tour. I could tell he truly loved the island and is passionate about the service the tour provides.

One of a kind tour - Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helped us understand the different types of volcanos and pits as well as vegetation and the importance of it all to life on the island and the eco system.

Formidable Mother Nature - A full and long day but worth every minute. So lucky to have Mel as our guide. Professional throughout the entire day, anticipating our questions. A very experienced and knowledgeable guide. A day of making wonderful memories. The tour bus however was in need of some TLC, a very noisy rear window which rattled and side step on leaving the vehicle was a big step down. My tip would be to wear covered comfortable footwear with good grip as there is plenty of chance to walk out onto the volcanic Landscape and take a lightweight rain jkt for walking in the Rainforest and Lava Tube. Brilliant Day!

Fun way to see the whole island in ONE DAY!! - Loved our tour guide! Don’t know how to spell his name but he said to call him “I wanna”” like “I wanna have fun”- haha! He kept the energy up throughout the very long tour. Make sure you take snacks or even some sandwiches tho bc others in the group weren’t prepared for the long tour and complained the whole time. Loved taking the scenic routes and seeing the island locals spots! THANK YOU !

Excellent Big Island volcanoes tour - We had such a great time on this tour especially because our tour guide, Mel, shared an incredible amount of knowledge about the island, the Hawaiian culture and each place visited. Pay attention to his instructions as safety is his number one concern. There’s plenty of opportunities to take pictures, walk in a lava field and a black sand beach, walk through a lava tube and visit a volcano and see its steam coming through the mountain. It was such an exciting day! Bring your energy, a light jacket and your phone flashlight for the lava tube. I highly recommend this tour and if you’re lucky, you’ll have Mel or another guide as friendly and knowledgeable to enhance the experience!

"Disappointing Tour Experience: A Long Journey with Limited Time to Explor - Not my greatest experience. Started at Kona resort, spent most time in the shuttle (4 hours back and forth ) and few hours picking dropping passengers . Got max of 20 minutes at each stop. Lunch, snacks , beverages not included as advertised on Viator. Highlights were 20 minutes at Steam Vents and 15 minutes at Lava Tube. Other stops were old road and few other beaches. Tour Guide was very knowledgeable though. He went over history, geography of the Park and big Island in depth There were no active eruptions. check the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory for the current status of Kīlauea and Mauna Loa or the park's website

Not worth - No notice of when we will be picked up. Called to complain as we had no idea when we would be picked up. After that we got a text saying they would pick us up an hour and 15 minutes after start time. We canceled and got a notice from the driver an hour and 30 to 45 minutes after start time they were finally there. Very unprofessional and I do not recommend. The positive side we got the full refund. My suggestion is have one meet up spot or spread out the times being picked up starti g prior to start time
