- Operates in all weather conditions (be prepared for sun, wind and rain).
- Covered walking shoes are required and a jacket is highly recommended.
- Participants must be able to walk a minimum of 1.5 miles on uneven terrain.
- We do not guarantee you will see molten lava on this tour.
- HOTEL pick-up is offered for select HILO HOTELS ONLY. If you are staying outside of Hilo, please plan to meet at the Hilo Mo’oheau Bus Terminal (please confirm at time of booking).
- CRUISE SHIP passengers, we pick-up directly at HILO HARBOR and will adjust the tour time as needed to accommodate your ships time in port.
- For a one DAY TRIP to the Big Island, please make your travel arrangements to and from the HILO AIRPORT. Schedule your flight arrival a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the tour start time AND provide your flight details at time of booking.
- Children ages 8 years and up may participate in tour. All participants must have a paid seat. We do not allow any “lap” children.
- Kilauea volcano is an active volcano, you may be exposed to volcanic gas on this tour.
- This tour cannot accommodate guests with wheelchairs, scooters or oxygen tanks.

Meet your tour guide at the Hilo Mo'oheau Bus Terminal (329 Kamehameha Avenue, Hilo, HI 96720). There is free parking adjacent to the bus terminal. Look for our van with the "Mauka Makai Adventures" logo on it in the parking lot. Please be waiting for your driver we may be picking up other guests.

Hot Hawaii, past and present - Excellent and very easy pick up from our cruise boat. Jill our guide was very informative and provided good commentary throughout the trip. We loved all aspects of the day, the volcano, even though it was no performing to the expectation I had hyped myself up to, was amazing and the lava tube was probably the highlight of my day. The lava fields were also great.
Would do this trip again should we be back this way again.

Amazing tour of Hilo - Jill was an excellent tour guide! She grew up in Hilo and knows all of the great history of the island with her real life experience as a kid and an adult living there in Hilo. It was all so interesting! If you want to see some amazing sights and get the history of Hilo this is the excursion for you.

A highlight of our trip. - My wife and I thoroughly enjoy this guided tour. Not only was Jill knowledgeable but is from Hilo and lived throug some of the eruptions she talks about. Her 1st hand experiences were really interesting to learn about. If you have never visited these places I highly recommend this tour. You won't regret it. A lot of the stuff she talks about you won't learn otherwise.

Awesome tour! - Fantastic tour! Would highly recommend. Absolutely loved the Volcanoes national park and the waterfall. The visit to the big candies store was great with lots of samples to try.

Thoroughly recommended - Josh was an absolutely brilliant host. I had came down from Honolulu for a solo adventure and joined up with a small group - it was fantastic experience. Thoroughly recommended not only for volcanoes but to get a feel for the awesome vibe of Big Island.

Amazing tour guide! - First communication to setup pickup was easy and right on schedule. Our guide, Josh, was great! He gives you history of the island through stories and he tells his personal experience growing up and living on the big island. He is also flexible enough with tour to adjust the schedule for weather or congestion. The experience was fun, informative, and the views were amazing.

Fascinating inlets with good tour guide and cars - Nice guide who told many stories and interesting facts. Since our children do not yet speak English, it was sometimes boring for them. Good tour, all important seen. Good get through, great cars with good air conditioning.
