Glowing review all around (we saw an eruption!!) - This was one of the best organized and tours I have been on. Grant is an amazingly knowledgeable and entertaining (!) guide. The transport was comfortable for everyone. The best part is we were lucky enough to actually see an eruption!!

Fabulous tour - Shelby was a fount of knowledge on this tour of the volcano. Her curiosity and excitement is contagious. She was very flexible and always looking for the best experience using the groups input. There were 8 of us. We went back at the last possible moment to see if there was an eruption. Although that didn’t happen, going in to the lava tubes at night was very exciting! The trip to the waterfalls was amazing as well. I could have left off the coffee tour but the lunch at the bakery and dinner was nice. We ate lunch in the van to give us more time at the volcano. It was a long day but Shelby’s Hawaiian knowledge held our interest from the beginning to the end.

Wonderful way to see the Island - Shelby was our driver/wealth of knowledge/passionate tour guide for the Deluxe Volcano experience with restaurant dinner. The 11 hour tour should not deter you as it goes by sooo quick with all the stops and information you are getting. Our group was small, 6 people, and we were all very relaxed and enjoyed spending the day/night together. My first suggestion is to review what they offer so that you don’t overload yourself with items you won’t need on the trip. They provide drinks and snacks throughout, they provide jackets/umbrellas/flashlights, they provide lunch and dinner (both were awesome!!) AND the restaurant gratuities! they provide entrance into the parks and they take photos! They provide sooo much you wonder how they are making any money! If you are wanting to see the island and some really neat stops along the way, this tour is for you, if you want to know everything about the island and volcanoes be sure and ask for Shelby, she was so full of knowledge we were all sure she was born here! I can’t say enough so just book it and you’ll see what I mean!❤️ PS: be sure to tip your guide, and be generous, because she really spends a great amount of time making sure you have a once in a lifetime experience.

Don't miss this tour. - Previous reviews of this tour are accurate. We were picked up on time. We had a small group of 7 people plus the driver/tour guide Dave C. The van was very comfortable. Dave was an excellent tour guide. He was very informative and took good care of the group. The length of time at the stops was adequate. The lunch stop at the bakery was awesome. Dave came fully prepared with beverages and snacks and set the table for us. The sandwiches from the bakery/deli were very fresh and tasty. Lots of stops to see lava fields, steam vents, black sand beach and of course the volcano. Unfortunately no eruptions when we were there. Dave made sure to take group and individual pictures. The dinner was very good. The atmosphere was great and the meal very good. It gave us a chance to get to know each other better. All in all, it was a great day. It is a long day (almost 12 hours from pickup to drop off) so be prepared. Highly recommend.

Fun and learning with Dave - Was a long but VERY fun and educational day. Our guide Dave was excellent, extremely knowledgeable, engaging and full of enthusiasm throughout the long day. Even though we did not get to see the volcano erupting it was absolutely wonderful, even the weather cooperated.

an unforgettable visit to Kilauae Volcano - My wife and I went on the Small Group Volcano Experience with Lunch and Restaurant Dinner on 13 January 2025. Right from the moment we got onto the comfortable Mercedes Van, the experience was wonderful. Our tour guide was Kawika. He kept us enthralled with his amazing knowledge of the area, the history of people & events that shaped Hawaii, personal anecdotes of his growing up years that were amusing and fascinating, and looked after us really well. The visit to Kilauae Volcano is an unforgettable experience and will remain with us for ever. Kailani Tours - you are the best.

HIGHLY recommend - We did the Small Group Deluxe Experience Volcano Tour with Grant as our tour guide. I've been on this tour several times when I went to the Big Island. On my first trip the guide knew a lot about the Hawaiian legends (Pele, the goddess of the volcano), but not so much about the geology of the volcano; on the second trip, the guide knew a lot about the geology of volcano but not much about the Hawaiian legends; but on this trip Grant was raised on the island and knew a lot about not only the geology but also the legends. HE WAS AMAZING and was a great storyteller. It was a great trip for all of us. I HIGHLY recommend this small group trip. It will not disappoint.

Worth it! - David our tour guide was awesome! So friendly & knowledgeable. 😊👏🏼🏝️ We saw amazing things all along the way & loved learning from David. The dinner at Kailua Lodge was just okay. Only 2 courses & we saw many awesome options that other non-tour guests had at their tables.
