A Little History and a Lot of Great Food! - One of our favorite food tours of all time! Kai and Jade were fantastic guides on this extremely well-organized tour which included interesting history about the area. Every restaurant was prepared for our arrival and we had local Hawaiian drinks like mai tai’s and original piña colada’s. The menu included unique local specialties, as well as classics like clam chowder and fish and chips. A truly delicious and memorable excursion!

A great day to spend your afternoon - A good sampling of some local restaurants. Kama and Kai were wonderful hosts of the tour and my daughter and I enjoyed the food, timeliness, local history, cleanliness of the places we visited. Our favorite food was the Poke and our favorite drink was the Pina Colada. .

History & Local Treats - We had a really great time with the ladies who led our food tour! They had a wealth of knowledge about the history of the area, provided little snacks in between stops, and made sure we stayed hydrated. The clam chowder at Fish Hopper was the best I’ve ever had! And the virgin Ubé Bé and pina colada I had the opportunity to try were both delicious. I also enjoyed my virgin piña colada, as well as the lilikoi and strawberry lilikoi gelato at the end. If I had any constructive feedback, it would be to incorporate a bit more local eats for the non-drinkers. The food selections were great, but I found myself longing for a loco moco, malasada, poké bowl, or the Hawaiian plate Hawai’i is so known for.

Not for Vegetarians - SO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR IF YOU ARE A VEGETARIAN!! They will not feed you an equatable meal as the rest of the group! I was told that as a vegetarian I would be accommodated, just that there was no substitution for the fish during the fish and chips portion of the tour. However, instead of being accommodated with similar options as my fellow guests, I feel like instead I was just omitted from being fed. During the clam chowder meal, I was given bar fruit garnishes. For the spam/musubi roll, I was told I could peel the spam off and eat the rice (ew!). Then for the “famous pizza” portion of the tour, I was given sautéed pizza toppings. Lastly, during the fish and chips portion, I was told I would get “extra chips” just to find out the whole table was given food to share family style, making it impossible for me to take a larger portion of fries given the table did not know I was told that would be my meal. At this point we had been on the tour for almost 3 hours and I was starving. When I realized I would not be fed during our last meal, I ordered myself some food since the heat/hunger was starting to take its toll, at which point I was told by the tour guide that I should get it to go in order to not hold up the group. This was super embarrassing for me and completely made our group feel put on the spot and uncomfortable, AND it made the other guests uncomfortable with me not being fed (it was talked about at the table at the last meal). The only reason I didn’t say something from the very beginning is I didn’t want to ruin the experience for the whole group - the experience I feel I did NOT get. I think in the future they should state that vegetarians should not attend this tour. For $149, I should have received a equatable item at every location. The tour was great, but the experience for me was a huge disappointment. Also, when I reached out to let the company know about my disappointment, Kai, the tour guide, was rude and implied I was being unreasonable because I wouldn’t “pick” the meat out of my food. I have included a picture of my first “course” as everyone else was served their famous clam chowder.

If you have walking or standing for long periods in the heat you may want to consider another tour. - We booked the tour of 4 for the last day of September. It was hot that day and we met our guide under a tree. The guide then took us to an area standing in the sun light to start his initial history stories. While he was still rambling on, we told him that we did not want to coninue the tour due to the heat and long walk. Then he said that would be great and told the rest of group they will have more fun without us since the 4 of us do not drink alcohol. We realized that we were giving up a lot of money by not continuing with the tour due to the heat but the guide seemed very happy we were leaving. He was very unprofessional and rude.
