Now a small town, Rajgir was once the capital of the kingdom of the mighty Magadha Empire and was known by various names such as Vasumati, Barhdrathpura, Girivraja, Kusagrapura, and Rajgriha.

• Vishwa Shanti Stupa - Shanti Stupa Situated atop Ratnagiri Hill at an altitude of 400 m, Vishwa Shanti Stupa is the symbol of peace and harmony. It was conceptualized by renowned Buddhist monk Nipponzan Myohoji and built by Japanese monk Fujii Guruji in 1969. Built completely with marble, the stupa comprises four golden statues of Lord Buddha, each representing his life periods of birth, enlightenment, preaching, and death.
  You can also use the cable car to reach Shanti stupa.

• Griddhakuta Peak - Vulture’s Peak, or Griddhakuta Griddhakuta, or Vulture’s Peak, is one of the most important religious sites in Rajgir. They say the peak resembles a vulture, hence the name. Griddhakuta is one of the places where Gautama Buddha resided and preached for several years. Also, Griddhakuta is a popular hiking destination. It is one of the top 3 places where Shakyamuni Buddha or Gautama Buddha preached for many years. This peak is known as the Vulture’s Peak as it is shaped like a vulture and also provides frequent sightings of the bird. It is said to be the place where Lord Buddha resided for many years.

• Venu Vana Kalandakanivapa - Venu Van Venu Vana, literally ‘Bamboo Forest’, is a historical park associated with Buddha. The park was gifted by the Magadha King Bimbisara to Lord Buddha about 2500 years ago. There is a small pond known as Karandak Tank inside the park. The forest was a favorite of Lord Buddha, who used to take a bath in the Karandak tank before going to teach his disciples on Griddhakuta Hill. It was one of Buddha’s favorite places of meditation. After visiting the Venu Van, our tour guide will take you to a very good Indian restaurant where you can have lunch. After Lunch we will drive pass to Bimbisar.

• Bimbisar Jail - Bimbisar (Drive pass)
  Bimbisar Jail is an ancient monument located in Rajgir, Bihar. Situated on the way to Griddhakuta Hill, Bimbisara Jai is believed to be the place where Bimbisara was confined by his son, King Ajatshatru. Legend says that King Bimbisara was detained and held captive by his son Ajatshatru during his last days of life. It is said that King Bimbisara decided to stay in this small room of the prison during his last days as he could see Lord Buddha, who was residing in the fort at that time, going to Girddhkuta Parvat to deliver his sermons every morning. After a drive to Bimbisara, we will head to Nalanda University Ruins.

• Ruins of Nalanda University - Nalanda University Nalanda is famous all over the world for the ancient International Monastic University established in the 5th century BC, which taught Vedas, Logic, Grammar, Medicine, Meta-Physics, Prose Composition, and Rhetoric. The site of Nalanda was one of the greatest monastic universities of the ancient world, established in the 5th century BC. It is believed that Lord Buddha and also the founder of Jainism, Lord Mahavir, taught at this university for years. There is even a monument to facilitate Chinese traveler monk and writer Hiuen Tsang, who studied at this university in the 7th century A.D.
