We will discover on the most charming corners of the Basque Coast, San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. We will reach the top of the rock on foot and enjoy the magnificent views. Many are the stories surround this place along the centuries. Recently it has become an important filming location of the famous TV series “Game of Thrones”.

In Bermeo, a typical fishermen village, we will stop for a walking tour and enjoy its charms. Finally in Gernika we will learn about the history and traditions of the basque culture.

Please note that from the 23rd October 2024 up to the end of January 2025 (pending exact date), there will be important road repair works at Gaztelugatxe and the walking access will not be allowed. During this period we will be able only to have a panoramic view from the distance, so this tour will be modified in a very important way. Please be aware of these facts before you book this tour at the indicated period of time, in order to avoid disappointments afterwards.

It is a trekking route so a minimum physical condition is required. We recommend you to bring confortable trekking shoes and a small bottle of water

Active day with beautiful views and with lots of information about the Basque people - The walk to San Juan De Gatzelugatze was beautiful. It was hot around 28 degrees so it was sweating a lot. You have to be reasonably fit to make the trip with this temperature. But we thought it was definitely worth it. What a view. The village of Bermeo was also very cozy with a beautiful harbor, cheerfully colored houses and plenty of choice of restaurants. Gernika was also interesting although our children between the ages of 16 and 21 thought otherwise. Our tour guide could tell very interesting about the places we visited and about the Basque people.

Great tour…. Please increase the time in Guernica - A great tour. Josu was an excellent guide and full of local stories. The three stops were well worth it. If anything my strong suggestion would be to reduce the time in Bermeo and give more time in Guernica. As a group we agreed to do it and Josu was accommodating, but I think Guernica and its rich history deserves a better visit. 2 two stops in the town provided by the tour do not give it justice.

Amazing guide, interesting sites - We were hoping to learn a lot about Basque history and Borja did not disappoint. He was extremely knowledgeable and passionate. The coastline at Gaztelugatxe is beautiful and the historical town of Gernika very impactful. We could not have hoped for better on this tour.

Great! - Great trip. Jesu was our guide and he had an extensive knowledge of the basque region and he is very proud of his heritage. His English was a little difficult to understand at times but he would clarify when we asked if he could repeat it. The first stop was San Juan de Gaztelugatxe which was AMAZING! However we were not prepared for the walk down to the staircase.. it was very steep, long, and tiring. Not recommended for people with mobility problems! Bermeo was also lovely and we had a classic 3 course basque lunch for just 14 euro. Gernika was very informative as well. Overall, great tour

On Camino - Although it's an up and down route, the walking surface is very good. The difficulty is the relatively steep assent and desent. Remember to pace yourself, don't get out of breath. The views are surpurb, take time to take photos. Enjoy the walk knowing you are strengthening your muscles, becoming fitter, and, may be improving your weight.
