A van and a driver - Having someone drive you around made the trip worthwhile, but that's all you really get with this "tour." We received a text message from Robert after midnight (about 8 hours prior to the start of the tour) asking us (telling us) that our tour would be delayed one hour. Of course I don't see the message until my alarm wakes me up in the morning, so I lose an hour of sleep. The driver, Agnar Diego, made apologies for the late start, but apparently the rental van for our tour wasn't available until later. I should have paid closer attention to the actual description of the tour. Agnar was a super nice guy and a competent driver, but I didn't get the feeling he was an actual tour guide. To be fair the description of the tour on Viator doesn't say you'll get a "guide," but I was a bit disappointed nonetheless. The van was a common Renault 10-12 passenger van-think about a hotel airport van-it was nothing fancy, but it was loud inside. Because the van was better suited to move people from point A to point B, communication with the driver was difficult. The van didn't have an audio system, so Agnar would answer questions and try and communicate about things, but he was looking forward (a safe and wise decision while driving) or down at his lap at the apparently necessary map app or something else, making it difficult to hear him. If your tour included more than the number of people (3) who could sit in the first row behind the driver, they would not have been able to hear his responses at all. Again, the tour doesn't indicate you'll get a tour guide and it doesn't say anything about being transported in a vehicle that's set-up for tours, so shame on me, to some extent, for reading too much into the description of this tour. This is a tour that allows you to get out of Reykjavik and see some very pretty country, without having to rent a car and drive yourself. It's basic, at all levels, in my opinion. On the plus side; Agnar was super friendly and seemed to be a genuinely nice guy and we were picked-up at our hotel in central Reykjavik, something not all tours are allowed to do.
