The Divin, a variety of brandy, is a distilled alcoholic beverage originated from wine, created through a two-step distillation process, using local ingredients. The distillates of this spirit are matured in oak casks for a minimum of three years. The term ‘Divin’ is derived from the Romanian phrase ‘din vin’, translating to ‘from wine’. Interestingly, ‘Divin’ also translates to ‘divine’ in Romanian, a name justified by the high evaporation rate of the distillates, symbolically serving as a celestial offering for the exemplary quality achieved. ‘Barza Alba’ S.A., also known as ‘The White Stork’, is one of the principal producers of Divin in the Republic of Moldova, having commenced its operations in 1944 in Balti as a Wine and Brandy manufacturing facility. We offer lessons on how to identify the distinctive types, aromas, hues, and flavors of alcoholic beverages.
