The Divin (a kind of brandy), is a product of wine, prepared through the process of double distillation. This method, a traditional one, relies on the local ingredients, with the distilled wine being matured in an oak barrel for a minimum of three years. The moniker ‘Divin’ owes its origin to the Romanian phrase ‘din vin’ translating to ‘from wine’. ‘Divin’ also translates to ‘divine’ in Romanian and is synonymous with the belief of offering a sacrifice to the heavens for the extracted quality, a concept derived from the evaporation of a large portion of distillates. The producer, ‘Barza Alba’ S.A., (The White Stork), is a notable Divin manufacturer in the Republic of Moldova and started out as a wine and brandy production unit in Balti in 1944. Our program aims to impart knowledge about identifying different variants along with their aroma, colour, and taste. The company’s sommelier would be delighted to narrate the histories and remarkable traits of ‘Brandy’, ‘Divin’, ‘Rachiu from apple cider ripe’ and many others.
