Thingvellir National Park - Your first day starts by driving from Reykjavik to the historic site of Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet which creates an amazing feeling having one foot in each world!
Geysir - You will then travel onwards to the world famous site of the hot spring Geysir. Known throughout the world for it´s power and beauty, Geysir has become a synonym for this amazing show of nature. Strokkur, another hot spring, sits nearby and is very active, erupting to heights up to 30 meters every few minutes. In the Geysir area you will also have time to buy lunch.
Gullfoss Waterfall - Next on the agenda is the waterfall Gullfoss – the golden waterfall. One of the most popular tourist attractions is Iceland, Gullfoss will amaze you with it´s raw power and beauty, plummeting down 32 meters into a rugged canyon.
Kerid Crater - These three attractions complete the classic Golden Circle – but to add even more to your experience – we also stop at the spectacular Kerid Volcanic Crater. This 3000 year old crater is 55 meters deep and offers a unique view of the Icelandic nature. Admission to the Kerid is included.
Hveragerdi - Hveragerði is packed with famous greenhouses powered by green energy, horse farms and even a Geothermal Park
Black Beach, Waterfalls and Glacier Hike
Seljalandsfoss - Experience this waterfall right up close as it crashes off the side of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano from a height of 60 meters. There is also a path leading behind the waterfall, that is open on most days during spring and summer.
Gljufrabui Waterfalls - A hidden waterfall falling into the cave, which most visitors miss. We’ll tell you where to find it!
Skogafoss - Skogafoss is one of the most iconic waterfalls in the world, and even featured in “Game of Thrones”. Because of its south-facing position, it is often covered in rainbows as the 60-meter cascade of water produces a lot of spray! Skogafoss is one of the most popular sights in the country and it’s possible to climb to the top of the falls to see it from there too
Solheimajokull Glacier - Solheimajokull is part of one of the largest glaciers in the country, Myrdalsjokull. Solheimajokull glacier is part of a much larger glacier, Myrdalsjokull, ice-sheet in the Katla UNESCO Global Geopark, and you will have a chance to walk across this ancient blue-ice glacier. Accompanied by a qualified guide and with all the necessary safety equipment provided, including ropes, crampons, and helmets, you’ll be able to really appreciate the sheer scale of the glacier and explore the crisscross of crevasses, ice tunnels and other glacial features here.
Reynisfjara Beach - It is now time to visit the world-famous black sand beach at Reynisfjara, where beautifully-shaped basalt columns hug the cliffs, volcanic sands are pounded by powerful Atlantic waves and the starkly shaped sea stacks of the Reynisdrangar tower just offshore
Diamon Beach, Glacier Lagoon and Amphibian Boat Ride
Vik - The third day starts with short stop in Vík Village that offers stunning views over Black Sand Beach and hills surrounding this small settlement
Eldhraun Lava Field - A barren and desolate wasteland filled with moss-covered lava formations.
Hofskirkja Church - Hofskirkja was the last church of this type to be built in Iceland, dating back to the 19th century. Deep layers of turf make up the roof of the church here, which is also surrounded by moss-covered burial mounds
Glacier Lagoon - Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon is truly an extraordinary place, a bucket-list location featured in several Hollywood movies, but also very peaceful and tranquil too. The scenery is stunning, and always changing too, as wind and tides pull the icebergs in different directions all the time. Here you will have an option to take a thrilling 45-minute amphibious boat tour among the bergs, getting up close to these icy giants and maybe even seeing a seal or two as well.
Fellsfjara - Just a few hundred yards away from the Glacier Lagoon you will see the Diamond Beach, that gets its name from the countless sparkling fragments of multi-colored icebergs found here. They are slowly being sculpted into fantastic shapes by the wind and the waves on this black sand Atlantic beach.
After enjoying the magic of the Glacier Lagoon, it will be time to return to Reykjavik, with a drive first to Vik for a rest stop and then continuing onwards to your drop-off in the capital city.
