Take pleasure in snorkeling at Silfra with your own personal guide. The temperature of the Silfra Fissure ranges between 2-4 degrees. You get to pick either a drysuit or a wetsuit for an immersive Viking experience. We will be in the pristine water for approximately 30 to 40 minutes. A wetsuit provides more flexibility and enables you to dive, whereas a drysuit offers warmth as you gently drift down the crevice between continents.
- All participants must know how to swim and be comfortable in water
- All participants must be able to communicate in English
- Please note that that dry suits can sometimes feel quite tight and constricting, especially around the neck and wrists
- Minimum age is 12 years, please reach out regarding younger participants & Participants over the age of 65 need to get a physicians approval.
- Be at minimum 150cm (4’9) tall / maximum 200cm (6’7) tall, and be at minimum 50kg (99 lbs) / maximum 120kg (264 lbs)
- Don’t wear glasses, instead bring contact lenses or your own prescription mask (if you have one)
- Recommended to bring a change of clothes (the drysuit has a very small chance of leaking)
- We recommend wearing long thermal underwear and thick wool socks a a base layer under the drysuit
- All participants heights, weights and age must be provided to local operator. If you do not provide at time of booking, please contact supplier immediately after booking to provide this information
- All participants will need to fill out a medical form before participating in the tour. Please find a link to the medical statement on your ticket voucher right after booking the experience to be sure if you qualify.
- Please dress according to weather - no heals or jeans
- Note: Each guide can assist one group of up to six participants at a time. Up to three different groups can be present during this activity.

Please park your car at “Thingvellir P5” and walk 400m back along the road until you reach a smaller car park with all the snorkel and dive. Please be there, ready to meet your guide 15 minutes before your tour is due to begin.

Marvel - This is a must for any trip to this marvel of a country. Ed my guide was knowledgeable, friendly and had safety in mind all the time. Also, the dry suit
Means YOU DONT GET COLD. Your hands and face a little bit but the rest is warm and dry. It’s also very easy to just float down the stream . The views are out of this world .
My tip would be as Ed said, take the earlier tour, it means getting up of course but whilst not busy and loud there were s few groups on the midday slot I did .

Best day ever - Had the absolute best time. Doris was our tour guide and was so lovely and helpful and kind. I was super nervous about not fitting into the dry suit and she really helped put my mind at ease and helped me get dressed.

Awesome snorkeling experience - Such an awesome and amazing experience. Views while swimming in the Silfra fissure were beautiful. We were picked up at our hotel by Gretar who was also our guide for the excursion. He is very knowledgeable about the fissure and the Thingvellir National Park. I would highly recommend checking out this Icelandic treasure.

10/10 Recommend - Such a great experience with Niko! He was super welcoming and helpful. I had originally decided to wear a wetsuit but after hearing that people haven’t worn a wetsuit for the last 3 weeks, I changed my mind. Thankfully, they had extra dry suits.

Great! - Unforgettable experience!!! The dry suits keep you pretty buoyant so you can mostly float through with a few kicks here and there. Niko was an incredible guide and made the experience extra enjoyable. Do forget to take some sips of the water!
Hot coco at the end was a nice treat to warm up your hands as they do get wet and cold.

Snorkeling with Dory! - Dory was an amazing guide. She was very detailed with her explanations starting from the suit to the route we were going to take. She helped calm some of the worries about the dry suit & snorkeling in cold cold water. I would hire her again for another tour!
The water is crystal clear and we spotted a fish!
Overall a great experience swimming between the tectonic plates. Especially with our guide, Dory.

Amazing views! - We loved the experience! Hugo was a really nice and helpful guide. Totally recommend to do the tour. The colors of the water were amazing! Even if it was cloudy and raining.

MUST DO - Best experience under water
