The pagoda has a golden glowing appearance, especially in the sunlight, when the contrast with the blue waters of the ocean makes for some beautiful images. Actually, the pagoda is not gold but built from yellow-colored tiles that make it look golden from a distance.

- Wat Khao Chedi - Khao Chedi, as the Wat Rattanakosin is also known, is located on a hill in southern Koh Samui. Just a couple of minutes uphill from the famous Laem Sor Pagoda. The temple grounds are only visited by a very few tourists and therefore really calm and peaceful.
