Go Samui Cook is a MUST do! - If you would like to feel like a master chef for a few hours, then Go Samui Cook is a must do! After being picked up personally by the wonderful cooking teacher Geng you visit a local market to learn about the main flavours in Thai dishes before arriving at the cooking school where you are treated like Royalty. Gengs beautiful wife and delightful staff members greet you with warm smiles and a delightful homemade welcome drink. Then the fun begins in the kitchen and before you know it you have created four magnificent delicious Thai dishes that you get to enjoy!

Fun and flavourful - This experience was so much fun. After O led an informative tour of the local produce market, full of fresh spices, fish and vegetables, we headed to the kitchen where Geng provided fresh ingredients enabling us to create the most delicious meals! (And being a terrible cook, this was a lovely surprise). Deou (sorry for the dreadful spelling) was of enormous help to me, making sure I kept up and taking photos. We had the Friday menu, Seafood soup with tamarind, Thai fried wontons, Green papaya salad, Dumplings in coconut cream. I am so looking forward to recreating these at home. Especially the soup! We were able to swap the seafood for chicken which was lovely 🙂

So much fun! - The Thai cooking class was so much fun and a great hands on experience. Chef Geng was funny and engaged all of us in every step of creating each dish. The setting was great with each of us having our own cooking station. His sous chef team was wonderful too! I would highly recommend this class to anybody who wants to learn more about the flavors of Thailand and have a blast at the same time.

A delicious and interesting experience - I really enjoyed my class with Geng. We started with a visit to the local market at Bangrak, which is small but has everything you'd expect in a local wet market. Geng explained the ingredients we would be using in today's menu showed them in their raw form. We then headed to the site for cooking class, which is on Geng's family land in Koh Samui. The cooking class area is an open bamboo and coconut structure and a great place to enjoy a cooking class. The "Pleasant Saturday" menu was green chicken (my group requested pork and Geng was pleased to accommodate that change and said it was his family's preference) curry with galangal, pad pug ruammit (stir fried mixed vegetables), deep fried chicken wings, and bananas in fresh coconut milk. All of the dishes were delicious and absolutely more-ish! The class is done in two stages, so don't be tempted to eat everything in stage 1 as you will fill up for stage 2. Geng and his lovely team will gladly provide takeaway containers for your leftovers! We had to make our own coconut milk for the curry and dessert, and the difference in flavour between canned or tetrapak and fresh coconut milk is quite profound. Geng was a great teacher and very funny. He had great tips and tricks on Thai cooking (the secret to everything tasting so good: Thai chicken stock powder). I've done several Thai cooking classes in the past and hadn't made a green curry with galangal, which gave it a different and lighter flavour than some other versions I'd made. The fried chicken wings were very easy and the ingredients can be easily obtained at an Asian grocery store. The bananas in fresh coconut milk were so tasty I polished off all of mine! Definitely try Geng's class - it is great and tasty fun!
