Additional Information

The Moose is quite shy and is easily scared back into the woods, but normally they are quite co-operative and allow us to get quite near. We know the habits and life of the moose and where we have the best chances to see them.

Elg - the moose is called Elg in Norway, but the moose is not comparable with the american elk. The elk (cervus canadensis) , however, is an entirely different deer (much smaller).

Largest in Europe - the moose is Europes largest land animal, also the largest member in the deer family. A fully grown bull are over 2 meters high at the shoulders and weighs up to 750 kg (1650 lb). Cows seldom weighs more than 470 kg (1035 lb).

Saltstraumen: The moose safari trip will also include a stop by Saltstraumen, the strongest maelstrom in the world. You can walk the bridge and look down in to the powerful whirlpools.

Surpassed expectations - We are keen photographers and have photographed moose in north America. Usually we have seen moose individually but on this tour we saw sixteen moose, a herd of five together with a deer! Our guide was a delightful young man, who was knowledgeable polite and obliging. He picked us up punctually, took us to see Saltstraumen whirlpool at its maximum velocity and knew just where to spot moose. I got some excellent photos with a long lens and the sunset at 11.30pm was a bonus. Great tour.

Lots of algae with Ivar ⁇ - Fantastic eagle safari with Ivar ⁇ Ivar showed us some of the most beautiful places around Saltstraumen. We saw over 20 algae and Ivar's first algae calf this year. We also met a reindeer and the sweetest little fox ⁇ A great trip we would recommend.

Nice surprise. - The trip was interesting. Moose is indeed a very elusive animal and it takes time to encounter one. There was a nice surprise in our trip - we saw two reindeer chasing each other. Super cool!
