Great day trip experience - We really enjoyed our day trip to Ephesus with GB Travel! The driver picked us up in the morning from our hotel. He was prompt, courteous, and professional. When we arrived, we were dropped off right at the gate where our guide greeted us and had our tickets ready. The guide was cheerful and humorous and at times, doubled up as our photographer. After the site tour, we had a buffet lunch at a nearby restaurant before heading back to Bodrum. The lunch was alright but to be expected from tours like this. Overall, the arranged itinerary and transportation were comfortable. Would recommend booking a tour with this company.

Good value efficient trip - We chose this trip based on reviews read & were delighted. Everything was well organised all day from pick up to drop off. We had three hours in Ephesus with a guide & while it was busy, we were able to see everything with commentary from our guide. Note entrance to the terraced houses is not included in the tour costs. Lunch is included & is a buffet with a good choice & all you can eat. Breakfast is in a lovely location beside lake Bafa. Price 100 Tl. We opted to visit Mary’s house € 35 for two of us . This was not included in the trip price. Long day but worth the effort.

Tour: poor. Ephesus: amazing. - The main redeeming quality of the Tour was Ephesus itself, which is breathtaking. The tour guide made every effort to make pit stops at his friend’s businesses along the way, including a sketchy jewelry making operation staffed with a huge crew of hard-sell dudes in a setup with a hard-to-find exit and a gift shop that exits to another gift shop, which exits into a third gift shop, and finally a snack stand gift-shop setup. Lunch was in a total dive, and we were offered the left overs at a tapped-out buffet which we had to elbow our way towards through the group of - let’s just say impolite- clientele on this tour. As for Ephesus itself, the guide talked a lot but had very little historic insight unfortunately. I learned more from the placards on site, my guide book, and overhearing other groups’ guides. Then, on the return; the bus, with poor AC, drops you off after a gargantuan day on the side of a highway. Then, two bus loads of tourists push hard toward the guide, who squints at his mobile phone to figure out 1x1 which bus to take back to their hotels. It was like a lifeboat scene on a sinking ship. Rather poorly organized for folks who do this all the time. It felt very “seat of the pants”. My advice, check out a different operator. Even if it costs more. I paid $100/person.

Day in Ephesus… and other places - Visiting Ephesus was truly remarkable and was worth the drive from Bodrum. The tour guide we had was very knowledgeable and took us around Ephesus teaching us all about the history! However, it was a very long day as there were multiple stops at other places (jewelry store, chocolate shop, etc.). Breakfast was at a cool location but not very good food. Lunch was also fairly average - a buffet. You can see the house or Virgin Mary for an extra cost, but if you don’t you’ll have some free time. We opted out of the house and went to the Efes Museum instead which was great (for an extra cost).

How was Ephesus? We’ll never know… - In a surprising twist, this 12hr Ephesus tour only took two hours, and here’s the most amazing part… It never went to Ephesus. I know right?! The tour started with a 6.45am hotel pickup in Bodrum - at least, that’s what the brochure said. At 7.25am there was no sign of our chariot so we called to find out where it was. Turns out they forgot us. Simple fix, just come back and get us, right? Instead, we were told to find a taxi and meet the bus 15 minutes up the highway. They even offered to pay when we arrived! Wonderfully generous! Motivated by the mystique of an ancient city, we happily obliged. We walked 10 or so minutes, found a cab and headed to the agreed meeting spot. All looked back on track until we arrived at the location and there was no bus. The cab driver was none too pleased, rightfully demanded payment, and left us roadside. We called again, and got told the bus was 10 minutes away. 20 minutes later on the dusty side of a Turkish Highway, still no bus. We called again, and got told 10-15 minutes. Half an hour later, no bus. This continued for just short of two hours before a van arrived. The driver told us the bus was half way to Ephesus, and he was here to take us back to our hotel. Whilst disappointed we never got to see an ancient man made wonder of the world, we got so much more out of their revised tour. All up, the two hour tour included: a short walk, 1 taxi, 1 highway, 1 van, 1 stray dog. Only shame was that it was the final day of our trip, otherwise we’d do it all over again.
