- Pura Parahyangan Agung Taman Sari Gunung Salak - Parahyangan Agung Temple Jagatkartta Taman Sari Gunung Salak is the largest temple outside Bali, second only to Besakih Temple. It holds the status of Jagyangan Jagat and was established in 1995.
The temple’s construction at the foot of Mount Salak began in 1995, marked by the building of a temple at the site of King Siliwangi, the King of Sunda from the golden age of the Hindu Pajajaran kingdom. During its construction, the temple was named Penataran Agung Gunung Salak.
The temple’s main section is divided by three large gates called Kori Agung. The central door, adorned with a dragon statue, is only opened during major Hindu events like Galungan or Piadolan memorials. It is also opened when priests from other temples visit for specific purposes. Inside, there is the Jobo Jero or Utama Mandala area, the most sacred part of the temple.
Surrounding it is the Central Jobo area. In one corner, there is a statue of Ganesha wrapped in yellow cloth with a pair of umbrellas on either side. From the main Mandala, you can see Mount Salak in the background. Even during the day, the cool mountain air is palpable.
- Nangka Waterfall - Curug Nangka, or Nangka Waterfall, is a small waterfall located in the foothills of Mount Salak, also known as the Silver Mountain. Its name translates to The Jackfruit Waterfall in English. It is situated about 20 kilometers from the city center, near the Bogor Palace, and takes around an hour to reach by car or motorcycle. The journey feels like walking through a wet 50-meter tunnel, and visitors should expect to get wet during the trip.
