Highlights
  • Plazoleta Chorro de Quevedo - Meet our guide holding the company’s yellow umbrella, and the rest of the group at Chorro de Quevedo Square. He and the technical assistant will hand you the bikes with their helmets.
  • Barrio La Candelaria - Once everything is set, the adventure will start. The guide will first take you to the three founding plazas in La Candelaria to understand how the city has changed over time. From its indigenous beginnings to Spanish colonialism, independence, and modern times. Then, you will cycle along the seventh avenue, originally a salt road in indigenous times that now gathers Colombians of all walks.
  • Parque Nacional - Stop by the National Park, half forest-reservoir, half-cultural hub. A typical weekend gathering spot for Bogotá’s denizens, where we will discuss broader changes in Colombia as a whole.
  • ParkWay - Afterwards you will take the bike roads to the Parkway Boulevard, part of La Soledad’s neighborhood, a natural path full of trees, before crossing El Dorado Avenue, the road that takes you to the airport.
  • Plaza de Toros de Santamaría - Before going back to La Candelaria, you will have the chance to cycle through hidden neighborhoods where graffiti has become a way of facing social issues.

Bogotá is brimming with historical charm. It has vastly expanded from its core, reflecting the constant flux that characterizes the city’s vibrant downtown. Simply ambling through the city can’t adequately capture its dynamic spirit. Our bicycle tour was conceived to reveal the broader face of this sprawling city with its half a millennia worth of history. By travelling on a bicycle, you can explore far more than you would be able to on foot or by bus!

We’ll take you through the city’s three primary plazas that mark the evolution of the city. Each plaza provides a glimpse into different eras - from indigenous rule, Spanish colonization, independence, to contemporary times, unravel how each location has undergone a symbolic metamorphosis over years.

Great experience - It was everything I expected it to be, and beyond. All the places we went to were very interesting and the guide we had was very nice. I would recommend it to everybody!

Amazing experience - Bernardo was our guide for the day. It was just the 2 of us, my boyfriend and me. He told us so many interesting facts about bogota. She was super nice and chill. Definitely recommend doing a bicycle tour because you are able to see more than by a walking tour. :)

Bike tour to start your trip - Very informative, our tour guide Bernardo was super nice and made sure our group was all together at all points of the tour. Definitely a must if you visit Bogotá and want to see different areas! The only cons were that my bike was in the lowest gear and was tricky to pedal fast and couldn’t change gear. Also, some parts of the tour was on the road so we had to be super careful of the cars. Overall a great experience!

Wanted more photo stops - The tour guide, Luis, was very attentive and took care to count the participants often. His knowledge of the routes and areas were sound. It felt safe to travel on so many bike trails. We traveled with a group of about 12. The equipment was very old, very worn. This can not go without saying no matter how good a time I had. In fact, our tour started an hour late due to this one-man-show having to both unpack each helmet and bicycle, but to also individually pump up tires and replace broken pedals and the like. At this, noting, Luis was very adept at his reparation skills. Females should be aware that only male-styled bicycles are available; those are the ones with the bar going across. So, no skirts! While we traveled many interesting routes and neighborhoods, there were far too few opportunities for photo taking as a result of maintaining preparedness against the 'magician' pickpockets. As one of the ones who fell down during the tour, I applaud Luis' attention to detail and care. I would like to suggest he travel with a basic First Aid Kit. I appreciated how much LOCAL knowledge Luis offered. Often times these tours get too caught up in fluffy touristy-history tidbits. It was great to actually learn.

Not much to see - Plaza Bolivar is the only place of interest worth mentioning. Not much to see in the city of Bogota.

Not convenient - Because of the traffic we arrive 14 mins late and they were gone. This was really a strange way to meet because we could not speak to anyone and there was no physical business to get information and we waisted the money for the ticket

The bike trip that didn’t happen - Trip was cancelled 15 minutes after the scheduled start due to a no show host. Consider going with a better reviewed, more reputable company to entrust your family vacation to.

Disappointed our tour was cancelled last minute! - Our biking trip was cancelled, only after our party of six met in the designated location and waited 15 minutes after the scheduled start time, only to be told that our guide did not bother to show up and no one else was available. Don’t waste time with Gran Columbia Tours! Our experience was ruined because the event was cancelled so late!

Bike Tour was a 'No Show' - They didn't turn up! I was there 15 minutes early and stayed for a half hour after the appointed time. If they were there, they were hiding very well - no sign, no name of company, no bikes! And no 'yellow', whatever that means. I'm furious - I built my whole day around it and I only have one day in Bogota.
