Additional Information

Colombia stands as one of the front-runners in Latin America for its progressive legal protections and equality for the LGBTQ+ community. Consequently, it’s no wonder that there are scores - yes, scores - of LGBTQ+ friendly entertainment venues ranging from mild to wild in Bogota.
Jointly, I’ll guide you to around 30 of these venues, providing insider tips on each. Once we’ve completed the tour, and you’ve selected the one that piques your interest the most, I’ll escort you back there for a fantastic time!
The tour is loaded with anecdotes about the local area, safety recommendations, and detailed accounts of the venues we’ll visit.
My familiarity with most of these comes from my past role at a foundation focused on gay rights. Using this insight, you can select the perfect place to mingle with the locals and have an enjoyable time.
Confused about where to head? Or what to do? Or what areas are safe? Or what to avoid?
I’m here to answer these and many more queries during our journey.
We’ll commence the tour with some stories around Lourdes Square. A few blocks later, we’ll spot the Colombian counterpart of the ABS, before moving onto a nearby gay hotel, followed by a handful of bars, a BH, with the concluding point being the world’s largest gay nightclub.

Location
Basílica Menor Nuestra Señora de Lourdes
Carrera 13
Right in front of Lourdes Church. Normally I wear glasses and cap. If it's raining meeting point will be inside San Fermín Cafeteria (next to the square)

Great way to get to know Chapinero - Gay Area - Thank you for a wonderful tour Juan. It was very interesting and I appreciate your knowledge of the city. Although many of the bars were closed due to the holiday, I was able to go back and visit the next night. Future guests! Let Juan know what you want to see and do. He will customize the tour for you, and even stop in a location or two if you’d like to have a drink, bite to eat, or whatever. Don’t be bashful. The length of the tour varies on what you like to do.

Personal Tour - Touring the Gay District with Juan was great. What I like most about this tour was that even if it was just one person, Juan still continued the tour. Since it was just me, the tour was tailored to my interests which was great. Not only did Juan show me around the neighborhood, he even stopped at locations by request, if I wanted to enjoy some time there. What I enjoyed most was his willingness to accommodate me at any stop of the tour, which I didn't take advantage of but recommended if you want to stop at some of the sensual places. The tour was very informative and helpful for those spending more than 3 days in Bogota. I read in a different review about this being a great first tour if you land and are settled before the start times... I highly recommend taking the route, if it as available on day of arrival. I was settled in my hotel by 3pm and took the at 7pm tour. There's a bonus, he also offers other tours, if you want to do additional tours with him.

Enjoyable evening - Nice little tour. It was like walking around the neighborhood with a good friend. Gives you lots of information so you know what to expect of the bars/restaurants/other businesses. Just make sure you're doing this on a weekend if your looking for a night of partying. I wasn't, so it was no problem. Still a lot to do for a weekday.

Informative and good time tour. - The tour is tailored to one’s own interests so if you know what you want to see and do it will help the guide to focus on these areas to give you a better understanding of the gay district. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

A Valuable Asset, Highly Recommended - As a first-time visitor to Bogotá, I’m incredibly glad that I booked Juan to show me the neighborhood. He tailored the tour to my interests and gave me clear guideposts to find my way when I am on my own. Many places of interest are not marked and are easy for visitors to miss, so Juan was a valuable resource showing what lies beyond the surface. He’s good-humored and a great conversationalist, and I hope to book him for one of his other tours before I leave.

Juan's tour was an... - Juan's tour was an excellent introduction to the gay neighborhood and the gay history of Bogotá. From the start, he asked us what our expectations were and what we wanted to see. He has a very organized three part tour that he will customize to your liking. The tour was comprehensive and informative, all questions were answered. In addition, throughout the night options were presented to the group regarding what was seen. If you don't get the tour you want, I suspect it might be because you didn't let your expectations be known. Highly recommend!

My friend and I had a great time in Chapinero with Juan! - This tour was amazing! Juan was so knowledgeable and kind. He has the whole tour planned out, but you can customize if there are certain types of bars/restaurants/scenes that you like. He knows everything! He answered all our questions and gave us tips. He even checked in with us via text to make sure we were enjoying our time at Theatron after he dropped us off there. Honestly, I never would have walked these streets alone, the tour makes it all possible and fun. It's good to have a good guide and Juan was exactly that! PS the restaurant scene in Bogota is amazing.

Great gay taste of Bogota - The guide was super flexible, in English, in tailoring the tour to my needs, especially given that it was a (very) small group. Interesting facts a plenty about the Bogota gay scene and really useful to have venues and shops etc pointed out we many of them are well hidden. We don’t stop at the venues but that’s not the point of this tour

City - Even though it says it has one of the largest gay venues anywhere, unless you are willing to pay a lot of money, it feels like a whorehouse of prostitutes, if you’re into that you would probably love it a number of older men will not like that statement, it’s not love is sex for sale. The other point, I have travelled around the world numerous times and this city personal I felt unsafe. It was filthy dirty, just didn’t get this city, would not be returning.
