Great company, custom tour or off the shelf! - Fogata Tours was a perfect partner to me, on my spur of the moment solo trip to Bogota. I took two trips with them: 1. Seeing the huge network of trails in the mountains to the east of Bogota, I wondered if they would help me do a hike (about 14km) from Usaquen to La Calera, over the pass at Mirador Aguadora. This hike wasn't published on their website but it ended up being the highlight of my trip! Fogata Tours made the arrangements for me on very short notice, which required a permit from the waterworks department, and arranging a guide and shuttle. A beautiful hike that follows the source of Bogota's water, as well as part of an old indigenous paved path - I highly recommend this trip for hikers who are up for a nice long walk. Camillo and Manuel were great company and we had tons of fun. I was especially impressed in their diligence in cleaning up the trail as we walked and their overflowing love for the area, history, and nature. 2. The next day, I took a private tour through Chicaque Natural Park's cloud forest - this one is published on their website and is more well known, available from other companies as well. But Fogata Tours would definitely be my choice! Again Camillo provided great, fun company. Chicaque is a special and beautiful place. Loads of birds to see, and when the sun hits the river (far below), the evaluation makes for a fog that is fun to hike through (as well as a good humid environment for the flora and fauna). A very different sort of scenery! Just fyi for anyone who needs this info: this hike is very rocky, and because it's a cloud forest the rocks are wet, so this can make for a tricky hike; maybe bring hiking poles to help. Unique and beautiful sights - The fog forest was such a unique experience with beautiful sights. Camillo was so informed and enthusiastic about the birds, trees, and fauna and we loved that. Eating lunch on the rocks as the fog rolled in and out was really unforgettable. It is a steep descent and some climbing so be ready and wear good shoes/boots.
